Dance Instructor Needed
The Calgary Children’s Centre is looking for enthusiastic individuals to teach a variety of dance classes and styles for all ages on a part-time basis, one or two times per week.
Job Duties
As a Dance instructor, you will be responsible to demonstrate and instruct children dance basics (mostly Ballet & Jazz) in a fun and safe environment. You will be following a curriculum program for each class with room for creativity. Classes are designed around fun, coordination, discipline, skill development, and more fun.
Classes run between September and June. There are no classes during the months of July and August.
Some equipment setup/takedown is required for each class. One demonstration is expected to be setup for parents for each semester of classes.
Individuals can expect to work 2 to 4 hours per week.
Availability to substitute for other teachers when necessary is highly preferred.
Class styles could include Princess Ballet for ages 3-4, Pre Ballet for ages 5-6, Musical Theatre for ages 7-10, Jazz classes and Fairytale Make Believe Ballet for ages 2.5-3
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and a minimum of 5 years experience in dance (Jazz or Ballet preferred but please include all styles), enjoys working with children, is patient, and reliable. An ability to provide constructive criticism, positive feedback, and manage group behavior of young children is a must.
Previous teaching experience of young children is preferred.
