Hey guys.
I’m your new pre-pointe teacher. If you have any questions or suggestions please just say. Sorry for the lateness of this class.

Ok first, the register.
As far as I know, class members are:
xox_Julia_xox
CompactDisco
coupexdancer
SIKKEY333
Anyone I’ve missed just shout out at the bottom, and if you want to join, just let me know. Right, let’s get on with the class.

Just so you know what’s happening, the class will mostly be strengthening exercises to work your ankles, and such, we might incorporate a bit of flexibility and jumps etc, but I don’t think we’ll be doing a routine, unless you particularly want (choreography isn’t my strong point :P )

To warm yourselves up, please follow this video. www.youtube.com . . . (if the link doesn’t work, please warm yourself up by doing exercises like jogging on the spot and star jumps for 10 minutes)

Next a quick bit of flexibility.
Exercise 1
*Stand in 1st position parallel.
*Slowly roll down for 8 counts, so you are touching your toes, chest as close to legs as possible
*Hold for 16 counts
*Bend your legs for 4 counts
*Roll yourself up for 4 counts
*Repeat
*Turnout legs, repeat everything
*Legs in 2nd repeat everything

Exercise 2
*Sit in as wide a straddle as you can
*Reach over and grab hold of right leg with left arm, hold for 8
*Repeat to left
*Right for 4 counts, left for 4 counts
*Right for 2, left for 2
*Right for 1, left for 1, right for 1, left for 1

Onto strengthening

Exercise 1
* Pick your favourite song with a medium tempo, lasting around 3 mins
* For the whole song to slow rises, really concentrating on rolling through the feel, up for 2 counts, down for 2 counts
*Start in 1st position parallel after 16 rises go into turnout, then swap every 16.

Exercise 2 - Toe Swapping
*Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor
*Raise your big toes, keeping the rest of your toes on the floor
*Swap so your big toes are on the floor and the rest of your toes in the air.
*Continue to do this for at least 20 repetitions, the above being one repetition

Exercise 3
*Sit on the floor, with your legs straight out in front of you, and feet flexed
*Pointe your feet but not your toes (like going on demi-pointe when stood up, just rotated)
*Pointe your toes fully
*Flex your toes so you are back to position 2
*Flex your feet fully
*Continue to do this for another 15 repitions

Now stretch out your hamstrings and class is over!

Please comment to say what you liked/disliked. Thanks. xxx

Yay! Thank you, that was a great class. I ended up doing the rises en pointe so I can get a bit of practice in. The way the timing's turned out, I think I may enrol in Beginner Pointe. But I'll wait to see the difficulty of the class first! :) I loved the stretching, and I'm not so keen on rises in parallel, because my knees angle in... :( But I'll live. Thanks! :D

Thanks, I loved the warm-up, mainly because I do Spark myself and am failiar with it :)! LOL!

I really liked strengthening Exercise 1... Its a good idea! I think I'll be doing rises whenever I'm listening to music now... In class we just listen to the teacher counting out the beats and intelligent person I am I never thought of putting on music at home.
