Hey all!

Welcome to inter/advanced ballet! Hope you enjoy the class!

*WARM UP
- Do whatever you need to do to be warm enough to begin barre. If you need ideas for a warm up, plase indicate in your reply to this class.

Now, you are all warm, come and find a spot at the barre (or sufficient other barre-like structure), and have a water bottle handy, as well as your favourite music for ballet class.

*BARRE

*PLIES- Start first postion, one hand on the barre. 2 demi plies that are two counts each, one 4 count grande plie, port de bra forward - 4 counts down, four to recover. Repeat in 2nd, with port de bras sideways towards barre, and away from barre, each taking two counts to bend and another 2 to recover. Repeat in 4th with a 8 count circular port de bra towards the barre, and repeat in 5th with a port de bra back- 4 counts bend back, four counts recover. Then rise, and take a balnce- arms to 5th. Repeat on other side

I really want you to think of making the most of your plie. Really use all the music.

* TENDUS
- Begin 5th position one hand on barre, and you are just going to do 5 tendus devant, 2nd, derriere, 2nd, and then repeat and turn other side. A basic excercise, and we will increase the number of tendus next class, but this is to really work basic technique. Think about your placement and closing every tendu with straight legs.

* GLISSES
-Facing the barre, 1st postion, we are going to do the good old 8,8,4,4,2,2,1,1,1,1 excercise. Alternating legs every glisse, if that makes sense. I can clarify if you are not sure. Remember to work through those feet!

* FONDUS & RONDS DE JAMBE EN LAIR
- 5th pos, one hand on barre. rise on introduction of music. Fondu devant, on a rise, close 5th en demi pointe, coupe to fondu derriere on a rise, close 5th en demi pointe (all fondus take 4 counts, use your fondu!) Pick up back foot and fondu to 2nd in four counts on a rise, and do two single rond de jambe en dehors, one double en dehors, close 5th devant en plie, releve 5th and demi detourne to repeat other side.

* GRANDS BATTEMANTS EN CLOCHE
- 5th postion, one hand on barre. 8 GB en cloche with a attitude leg, 8 with a straight leg. Finish in arabesque, take hand off barre and HOLD! try hold arabesque for at least 16 counts.

Take your own stretch, before coming into the centre. Some classes I will do a set stretch with you, but for today just stretch out as you need to.

CENTRE

* TENDUS WITH PIRROETTES
- 5th postion right foot front, facing en face. 4 tendus to 2nd, closing behind each time. Then tendu devant, rond de jambe to 4th en plie. Releve in 4th, plie, single pirroette, finishing in 4th, double pirroette, close behind and repeat other side. If you would like, go single, double, triple.

*PORT DE BRAS/ ADAGE
- Facing croise 5th position, right foot devant.Arms 1st to second on intro. Full port de bra forwards, slowly, ans slowly roll up to recvoer arms 5th and slow port de bra backwards, recovering arms coming to 2nd positon. Chasse in 2nd so you are in a grande plie type position, facing en face, and transfer weight to right leg, lifting left leg in 2nd enlair. Bring left leg in to retire, and arms to 4th , right arm high. Right arm joins left arm in 1st positon and pivot to the downstage right corner, left leg extending to attitude. Now promenade, focusing on the back of your supporting leg facing the front (mental image, to help gain maximum turnout of that leg) Promenade finishes back where you started. Extend leg to arabesque, slow penchee down, hold 2 counts, recover, releve in arabesque and hold for as long as you can! dont give up. Repeat other side. Sorry if this excercise i s a bit vague!

FROM THE CORNER
- Start tednu right leg devant, upstage left corner. Pose turn en dedans x2, run run, grande jete, landing ina contolled arabesque en fondu. A balance de cote onto left foot, travelling to left side (pronounced ba-lon-say not sure how to spell it) then pose in arabesque to the right, on right leg. Repeat balance, and pose, this time fondu in arabesque (fondu means leg goes higher!) , turn and 3 runs up the diagonal, tour jete (or grande jete en tournant, whicherver you call it), another 3 runs, grande fouette saute, coupe, chasse into own pose to finish! Be creative.

WARM DOWN
feet parallel,hip width apart. Roll down slowly one verterbrae at a time taking 8 counts, to touch your toes, hang there for 8 counts, roll slowly back up so your head is the last thing to come up. Repeat.

Thanks for the class! I will print it out and do it this weekend.

Just so you know, I have limited internet access during the week, so if it seems as though I am taking a long time to reply to classes, it's because I can't get access until the weekend.

Oh, and I love grand battements, developpes and adage.
