I'm pretty sure I'm not in the opening number, because Peggy doesn't come in until the end, but I'll practice anyway, just in case... Plus, we might use some of the same steps later in the dance right? |

Yupp Kelly you don't come in until after this number, but I'm sure it's ok if you practice as we do use a lot of the same steps(the common ones) in other dances! |

Hweishien does the routine that Heather just demonstrated.
"whew! lots of fun, but a little tiring!"
Oh, also, I was just wondering whether or not I'm still playing Ethel. I was listed as playing her at some point in time, but I'm not sure if that's changed.

Ok then, *Nicola starts running through her lines:
Dorothy
(Sweeping on right, followed by Abner Dillon)
Don’t say a word, I want to do this myself! Mr. Marsh, ever since I was a tiny little girl and saw my first Julian Marsh show I’ve dreamed of the day when I might work with the King of Broadway. At last that day has come, and I am filled with pride, joy, and humility.
(she bows)
Dorothy
(Taking contract out of her purse)
Mr. Dillon, what would I do without you? By the way, there were a few items you forgot to mention, so I wrote them in. Limousine, redecorated dressing room, private maid--no problem about the salary, I just added another zero.
Dorothy
Of course, if there’s any objection, I won’t insist. We’ll just peddle our Kiddie Kars, and you go peddle your fish.
Dorothy
(Angrily)
If you’re asking me to “audition,” Mr. Marsh, I’m afraid the answer is no!
(She starts to exit)
Dorothy
Mr. Marsh, what does it take to get a compliment out of you?
Dorothy
(Angrily starting off right)
Wardrobe, where are you? How do you expect me to dance when these sleeves are halfway to the ground!
Dorothy
Pat! What are you doing here?
Dorothy
And what if Mr. Dillon had been here? No. Pat, it’s too dangerous!
(Dorothy hands Pat a dollar)
Now, be a dear, take in a picture or something, and I’ll meet you in my dressing room at five.
Dorothy
What difference does that make if we still care for each other? Oh, Pat, don’t you think I hate meeting in corners like this, but isn’t it better than not meeting at all?
(And she tenderly sings)
“In the winter let me bring the spring to you
Let me feel that I mean ev’rything to you”
(Putting bill in his pocket)
Now run along, my dearest, and I’ll see you in my dressing room at five.
Dorothy
Till five, my darling!* |
