The March Dance Group had a promising offer to perform in a concert featuring different artists during the Fete de la Musique 2010 celebration in Charleston, but it turned out to be a scam. The concert promoter, who went by the name Kinetic Bodies Promotions, had said their company was a start up, so they can only shoulder 50% of the costume expenses, but they could let the group join the festivity and be seen in local television and mentioned in local radio programs, and get paid for participating. Because the program called for a single theme, the promoter had asked the March Dance Group for the amount in advance to have the costumes made. There was even an initial fitting that the group went to! Clearly this guy has had practice scamming other individuals or performing groups. The lesson here is clearly to do a thorough background check on people who pass themselves off as dream-makers. Because sometimes, what’s too good to be true, is really to good to be true.

That is so discouraging to read! We had an experience once with a costume company going out of business two weeks before a performance... and had to scramble to find a replacement. Ended up having a bunch of the dance moms get together to hand sew costumes. It all worked out, but what a bummer. However, I'm not sure if that was a scam... but your situation sounds like one for sure.

That sounds so frustrating! To have to scam a group of people who are passionate about what they do. What a shame! But what goes around comes around, and whoever did this to you has set himself up for bad luck. No matter what happens though, do what you do best and never lose hope. It's amazing the lengths people will go to in order to steal. Is it really easier than earning a legitimate living, if you're going to put the time, effort, and ingenuity into your scams that these people did?

Did anybody report this theft to the police?

that was little bit shocking too.sice we need the money to make our dreams comes true,we need other person's support,but when they sarted to rule ous just for bussiness.it's very bad.as you have said.this is a lesson.

I know how it feels to get scammed. Same thing happened in my life also. Once there is a cultural program to be conducted for new year eve on 2005. We already paid the money. But at the last moment we will know that it is scam. we are very much disappointed.

This is a very sad mistake that could be made by a person calling himeself a promoter! A man worth his salt never gets to, so readily, break his promisses. We should watch out for these cheats. Any way, I Was also one day conned by my potential employer who claimed he could help me secure a job. Since then, I have learnt to be careful when dealing with anything that has got to do with money.

That sucks. These days, everything is a scam. But there is a good way to tell if something is a scam. If it promises easy money or easy fame or easy superstar status, it is a scam. Like you said, If it seems too good to be true, it isn't. (my paraphrase)

There are so many people tricking senior citizens. One must be careful always.

This is very bad news. Do not let something like this discourage you from doing something you love? This is a reminder to all of us to be careful because we neevr know what type of people we may be dealing with.

Any sort of commitment signed between you and the them?


I just googled that name you had at the top.. NOTHING came up.

do you at least have a name of one of the people, and/or a business card?

Could those things be helpful for a police investigation, and maybe a better business bureau case?

I feel for you! Being taken is one of the worst feelings ever....but I am glad you are getting this information out there to the public, you may help prevent someone else from a similar scam.

Ok, March Dance Group, it's CLEARLY you creating all these extra accounts to post on this thread. At least have the smarts to stand up, and defend yourself.

It is very sad that they were duped in a very unprofessional way.We should watch out for cheats as the number is increasing day by day.Thanks for creating awareness to the people.

Does such things happen in real life. I cant believe this. i had never faced such things in my life. Such scams should be reported to police because no one should be cheated again like this.
