Unfortunately, this is hard lesson to learn. If things seem to good to be true, that just might be the case. It sounds as if this guy has scammed others and makes a living off of it. I am still shocked that people fall these scams but I guess it's hard to really spot one.

It's kind of hard to believe all the people supporting this thread just happened to get an account on ddn, found this thread, and aren't posting anywhere else on the site.

Coincidence? I think not.

If you don't want to be scammed then you have a good contract, you do a background check on the person you are dealing with, and you would pay the person making the costumes directly not the person running the show or simply say, "No, we aren't paying for anything until we get the product...or the day of." Lots of ways to handle this in the future.

Also interesting that Mods can actually see that it's the same person (well at least 4 of them) posting.
