Showstoppers Ovation Musical Theater Ensemble Auditions!!

Showstoppers Ovation is an audition based musical theater program, with an equal emphasis on dance, voice, and theater training. Similar to a show choir or musical theater revue, their shows consist of group & solo singing set to theatrical based choreography. Each show has a theme and skits to connect it all together.

These triple threat performers give back to the community through performances and events throughout the semester (about 4-8 times) and have the opportunity to tour with their show each year. They also participate in a winter main-stage revue production as well as the annual spring recital. Other events include parades, a winter retreat, and summer workshop.

Each group will have one costume to purchase, which will be worn for all company production numbers. They will also rent additional costume pieces from the studio for a rental fee of $40 total per semester. Performers will need additional company basics, including tan tights, black gore jazz shoes, black company leotard, black & green booty shorts, white parade shoes, and company hairpiece. They will also be required to purchase performance warm-ups.

Prerequisites:
Seniors – ages 10-17
Juniors – ages 6-11

SR Program of Study:
2 hours production each week plus technique classes:
1 hour jazz or ballet technique
1 vocal technique class or private lessons
1 drama technique class
Optional small group production class

JR Program of Study:
1 hour production each week plus technique classes:
1 hour jazz/ballet technique
.5 hour vocal technique or private lessons
.5 hour drama technique
Optional small group production class

Expectations for Ovation Performers: Demonstrate strong stage presence & personality on stage. Not afraid to make eye contact & project energy on stage. Show strength in dance or voice, & strong potential in the other. Practicing at home is required Attend all classes & performances
