I teach preschool, beginner jazz and ballet classes.

Will this help you or are you mostly looking for jazz ideas?

Sharon - I teach almost everything under the sky, so any playlists would be awesome.

I don't think the genre matters. :D

I teach more ballet than anything else and I compile entirely new playlists every few months, I've been using a playlist consisting almost entirely of her music all summer and will continue using some this fall.

Love everyone's playlists, I love the diversity!

This is what I use for a fun pointe class when I feel we need a change from the norm,

Yakety Yak, Charlie Brown, both by The Coasters
Peggy Sue, Oh Boy, That'll be the day, all by Buddy Holly and the Crickets
Chantilly Lace, The Big Bopper
Our House, Baggy Trousers, One Step Beyond all by Madness
Living Doll, Summer Holiday, both by Cliff Richard and The Shadows

I find all of these give just the right lift and the girls love the lyrics, especially Charlie Brown and Baggy Trousers :)

^^ The issue with playlists for Hip Hop is that it necessitates staying current. You can go old school if you want, but I generally don't.

I just recently subbed a class. This is for older students. They need to be edited and truth be told, some of these are already overplayed and in three weeks they'll ALL be overplayed.

Also, even in the edited versions, you end up with some reference to somebody on a pole somewhere. Can't really play that in the younger classes, and some people won't play it at all.

Hip Hop is a constant game of chase the hits. Annoying.

Anywho...for teens, edited versions of -

Your Love - Nicki Minaj
Find Your Love - Drake
Airplanes - B.o.B.
Say Ahh - Trey Songz
OMG - Usher
My Chick Bad - Luda
Dynamite - Taio Cruz
For My Hood - Bow Wow
GRIND - Asher Roth
Got Your Back - TI

Anyone have some good upbeat song ideas (without questionable lyrics) for 8-10 year olds? I'm teaching a conditioning class, but we do fun combinations to current music for our cardio warm-up prior to the strength and conditioning work. It's just so hard to find songs the kids like that that aren't too baby-ish but that the parents wouldn't object to either.
