I am from WV. I would say DMA is most popular around my state with about 4-5 competitions a year. NBTA has two competitions a year that I have participated in as well. I also do TU Internationals every year.

Different organizations are popular in different areas. Letting us know your area would be helpful. The big three are DMA, NBTA, and USTA, but lots of other groups exist.

I live in Tennessee and I compete NBTA, but it feels like most people around here compete DMA. The only NBTA competition I know of around here is our Miss Majorette of Tennessee and State Championships.

I don't know about Tennessee, but it can vary even within a state. In California, the southern part is largely NBTA, and the northern part is mostly USTA.

I know of a few USTA groups in TN. I'm in Illinois--Lots of NBTA; a little USTA. There's a ton to learn from every organization. Try everything you come across because you'll learn a lot.

you need to contact tennessee twirlers inc they have clsses from nashville to memphis. Also united twirling in the chattanooga area. These are all USTA folks. Great groups.

In arkansas, championsbaton, who is known to be on this site, teaches.

TWIRLTACULAR competitions areheld in and around the TN area and have great clinics. twirltacular.com.
good luck

Hi Twirlprincess,

I'm from the UK and currently compete with the UKFM organisation, which mainly covers the South East and London boroughs. It's good as they allow oldies like me to compete also! :)

I also attended last years NTBA European Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland as a spectator. Some of my team-mates were representing England in the Pom event. Saw some amazing twirling quite frankly! :)

In Fla NBTA and USTA are equally popular, DMA not so much. TU is coming into its own and AAU is more focused on the athletic aspect, not so much pageantry. TU and AAU have their own nationals but NBTA and USTA are much more recognized.

Actually fltwirlmom70, DMA is very big on Florida. There are 6 large DMA teams here and several other small ones. Having attended USTA, NBTA and DMA in Florida, I would easily put DMA as larger than USTA here.

Interesting, we compete (NBTA and USTA) with hundreds of twirlers and none of them do DMA. Where are the contests in FL?

There were a lot of Florida athletes at DMA nationals this year. They did a great job! Some of the results are posted on the DMA website now,

There was one UT majorette that was USTA and she was from Cookville. Jenny Hannah is in Chattanooga and I know that she is very involved with USTA.
