Hi my name is Mike and I am wanting to take ballet. But I was wondering if I might be too old. I am 41. I know I am too old for professional but I would like to take it for fun and exercise. I do have somewhat of a small gut but I am working on losing weight. Would being a little overweight keep me from doing ballet? Also if any males are in Ga would love to be penpals with you. .

Thanks

Hi Mike...

I know someone who started at your age or older. And he lost 50lb once he started doing it every day. It's one of the best things you can do for yourself. If you read the "Adults" section of this board, you'll see many other people who started studying ballet later in life and get a lot out of it.

Enjoy!

36 here, came back to it after a 28 year break. The other male is 40 and we are the two oldest males, but we have plenty of women who go up to the mid 60's in our group.

Go for it how long have you wanted to try ballet. We are about the same age and I was told at 11 not to do ballet

Took a few classes at 12 and did not get back to it in earnest until 45. I think once we get older and wiser then we just really don't hold back anymore on things we may like to try. You will be fine and don't worry at all about the extra weight. My class has folks of all types of sizes and ages.
