Need your advice about a story idea en>fr fr>en

So i know that Slash Fanfiction with groups like Nsync and Backstreet Boys are quite popular.

BUT i have an idea for a BSB story and i'm not exactly sure how i wanna go about it, and i want some brain storm ideas how i can make it happen and it not cheesy. Also if at all possible i'd like to send it to Brian and Nick.

So here is the story, it's going to involve Brian and Nick and what i want is for them to realize they have feelings for each other, but its a HUGE struggle for Brian because he's married and also his religon. And for Nick he's been loving him since he was 12 when they started. Also i want them to have some sort of way they realize the feelings they have.

I got a lot of little ideas, anybody else have some? i THINK i got some really cool people on here who could be of some help :).

Hmm I think this isn't a good idea, and if you were to send it to Brian or Nick, I think that they would be really insulted by this. Do you have any evidence that Brian or Nick is actually gay? I mean Brian is married with a kid for pete's sake!

I'm going to agree with DancingBeaner here and say that I don't think this is the best idea... if someone wrote a story like this about me and sent it to me, I'd probably be weirded out.

DO NOT send it to them. That is how lawsuits and restraining orders happen.

Seriously, what would your motivation for doing this possibly be??

Trust me -- I've been in "fandom" (although not BSB, and only very rarely RPF/RPS) for 14 years. I have seen stuff like this happen before. It does not end well. Ever.

Accckkksss, so looks like i maybe have given the wrong impression of what i wanted to achieve here.

Firstly guys in no way am i implying that any of the men are gay, or anything like in my story really had or will happen, its only and will stay pure fiction. and if anything HAS happened, its oviously no ones buisness, everyone clear?

Secondly, when it comes to giving this to the boys. It was only an idea, so don't panic about whether i will give it to them or not it was just an idea/suggestion.

Lastly, to make it more clear what my original goal was i wanted some tips on HOW to write my story not whether i should do it. Because i've never written fiction before and i wanted to try my hand in it and i had some ideas but no clue how to even start it without sounding like a cheesy run of the mill fiction story.

Several things, in my opinion:

1. I'm not sure how you can make it entirely fictional if you're using real people and a real band. I think that would make it "fanfiction" Maybe a spinoff, same-situation, different-names type of deal would work, but if you're point blank using real people and their lives/careers...it's already not fictional.

2. Regardless of my sexuality, if any random fan sent me a "fictional" story about myself being a different sexual orientation, I would either A) Be disturbed or probably more likely B) Laugh my head off at someone dreaming that up and actually writing it down. In all actuality, chances it would make to them are slim...not impossible, obviously, but very slim.

3. If you don't know how to start writing a story, the only way to learn to is WRITE. Post it. Get opinions/feedback. Revise, revise, revise. Edit, edit, edit. We can't teach you how to write a good story.

That's assuming your people didn't file the restraining order and toss the story before it ever got to you.

This is so...gross, for lack of a better word. I'm just really squicked out by this entire thing.

And before someone comes along and says I'm a homophic jerk (and I've got someone in mind that might), that's hardly the case. I just think writing a story about a straight celebrity where they suddenly realize their homosexuality, and then GIVING said story to said person is just wrong from beginning to end.

Totally, totally agree. I think the whole process/idea is disturbed. Why not create an entirely fictional story with a similar plot, if that's what you're into?

Let me rewrite your initial post for you:

what should have been written but wasn't wrote:

I am new to fiction writing, but I have an idea about the issues that members of a boy band may face upon realising they are gay. I thought that I could possibly further complicate the matter by making one of the characters married and very religious. I was hoping for some guidance as I don't want to write something that has already been done to death, is trite, naive, cheesy, etc. I'm thinking about using some well-known celebrities as the basis of my characters, because I'm not sure I know how to create a character from scratch. Is that a legitimate thing to do?

Also if anyone has any tips on fiction writing in general, I'd really appreciate it.

Now, doesn't that sound much more sane?

Helen

Besides getting slapped with a possible restraining order, I think you'd have a lawsuit on your hands faster than you can say "libel" or "defamation of character."

When people do slash fanfiction between Spock and Kirk they're writing about two fictional characters in a fictional show. You're talking about using real people. Even if you preface it by saying that your story is a work of pure fiction, none of the events are true, someone will read it and say, "OMG! Did you hear..."

As Oz_Helen said, keep the premise if that's what gets you off, but change the names and the names of any copyrighted property (like the BSB). Because let's be real, if you aren't creative enough to change those minor details, you'll never have a story.
