Does anyone know the name of the tartan in the unknown tartans section. Number 19. I love it so much and want it for my kilt and aboyne when I get to premier please.

I looked on tartan ferret but could not get a match. The tartan look like they also have a thin black line in the white and also a yellow in the centre of the sett, i think, it's not very clear.

Thanks

Is it Dress Red Culloden? It has that tag on the flickr page and it looks like it matches this:
mackilts.com . . .

Number 19 is a Dress Culloden but it is the old sett size which was discontinued many, many years ago. This 'old' design is more commonly seen in purple and turquoise. It was re-introduced three or four years ago, and replaced by the new Dress Red Culloden which has a narrower band of purple bordering the red centre. It's a beautiful tartan.

I meant to have added a huge thank you to emmyport for this wonderful site. You have worked very hard in researching all this info - it is always best to see outfits made up, eg at competitions etc or on photos, before choosing your next tartan.

Great collection of links for used outfits!
BCHDA hasn't updated their buy&sell for almost a year - they don't seem big on updating the website; they send out new info in their newsletter...

Two more:
Fraser Valley Highland Dance Association: fvhda.org . . .
Linda's Kilts (Calgary AB, Canada): lindaskilts.webs.com . . .

I'm so excited to see so many pictures of Buchanan tartan on dancers! I hope one day to get back into Highland, and then I'll likely have an aboyne made from my clan's tartan! Thank you! :)

Thank you, again, for all the kind comments and helpful suggestions I have received here and via e-mail!

My newest thought is that I would like to add links to videos of the various outfits in action, when available. The problem is that most videos on YouTube and the like are so blurry or so far away that you can't identify the tartan! If anyone thinks this would be useful and has a video of themselves dancing (and also knows the tartan of their outfit), please let me know! Thanks :)

Does any one know of any NA suppliers that carry the Dress Drummond of Perth - Dalgliesh (Clan/Family) Tartan. My daughter really likes this tartan and would like her next kilt done in it. She wants a red but something not often seen. She is quickliy growing out of her purple Culloden and in need of something new.

Fabulous effort. I agree with so many others about seeing tartans made up into kilts. It is interesting to see the various color combinations and to see what the matching hose look like.

I was thinking about getting a new Tartan for my daughter for a new Aboyne. The one she's in she has been wearing since Beginner level. She's now a premier getting ready to attend USIR and I thought a new outfit would be nice. After looking through your pictures - I stumbled across a couple of photos of her in her Aboyne (Dress Scot Burgundy) and decided to wait. It really is a good color/tartan on her. So thanks for helping me decide! ha ha

Oh... and for the record, I'm ok with your use of her photo since it was posted on Dance.net any how. :)
