Hello everyone.
I thought I'd share a few tips about saving money on groceries with you all.
I live with my significant other (SO) and our 3 year old daughter. Needless to say, our grocery bill was one of our biggest monthly expenses. Until we started couponing. My SO found this website:
thekrazycouponlady.com
I have always thought that couponing was a big waste of time, but my SO was insistent that we try out the tips on that website. So, we started buying 3 sunday papers every week and clipping all of the coupons from the papers. Additionally, we started printing coupons from the internet. We bought a binder and 100 of those baseball card holder inserts to organize our coupons.
We started to make a grocery list for every shopping trip. There are tips and tricks on the website above that talk about "money makers" where you basically are paid to take food out of the grocery store. We've been doing this for about 2 months now and we spend an average of $15.00 on a full cart of groceries per shopping trip.
To achieve this it takes at least 3 hours of coupon clipping and planning a week, but we've consistently turned $60.00 shopping trips into $15.00 shopping trips! We're not just buying junk too. We're big on eating organic and healthy food in our home, so we have been able to eat healthy and still save money.
Unfortunately, I have yet to come accross coupons for produce. So, we are still paying full price for produce, but it helps so much to save on all other sorts of food!
Check out that website above! It's not a joke. It really does work!

I saw this on either Dr Phil or Oprah once when I was home sick, and was pretty amazed. They had a lady that does her shopping with mostly coupons, and she ended up getting a whole trolly full of groceries for like $5 or something insane like that. Though I don't remember seeing an fresh produce in her shop.
I was a bit of a coupon convert after that. As a student, coupons have kept me fed on a few occasions. I'll go out with a friend with a 2 for 1 coupon, then we only end up praying half price for 2 meals. It works well between pay weeks. Fresh produce is so cheap and readily available here in Australia, so it doesn't cost that much on top of a coupon shop anyway.
I got my car serviced for half price due to coupon sleuthing earlier this year, and nearly every hotel I've stayed at when I've had to travel this year has been discounted from them too.
For anyone in Australia, check out this website; www.hotdockets.com.au - you can type in your postcode and get your local dockets. |

Mmm... I'm a couponing college student. I've got a blog: www.couponkat.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. I've saved over $4,000 in coupons since April 2009. |

^Thanks for your blog link! I have bookmarked it and will check it out. The original website posted here looks useful (but inimidating!) I dont pay much attenion to coupons right now because so many are like "Buy Three Get One Free!" and I am all alone and would never eat four giant bags of pretzels on my own or whatever. |

^In many stores, buy 1 get 1 free means buy just 1 and get it 1/2 off. |
