There's been a few people on here taking their driver's test, and either asking questions, or getting frustrated, so I thought a quick little poll would help them feel a little better!

I passed mine on the first try, but with the minimum score. I got like eight points off for a single turn. I didn't even do anything bad--I was slightly left of where I was supposed to be on a single lane road with no markings. Thank god I passed, though, since I was leaving for college in a week and bringing my car with me. I don't know what I would have done if I had failed. I think I would have been able to fit in one more test, but it would have been literally the day before my dad and I left. To drive across the country. |

For the written test, I passed on the first try with 3 wrong, and the most I could miss was 8.
On the driving test, I passed on the first try. I got 1 wrong, and that was forgetting to put my parking brake on. I could've missed 15 on this test.

I'm not old enough to do my actual practical driving test yet. I passed my theory one with a 100% though For my two siblings, one passed their practical driving test on third go and the other on first. |

Where I'm from (Texas), I never had to take an actual driving test. I took a written test to get my permit (passed it on the first try), then went to driving school. After a certain amount of time behind the wheel with an instructor, I was able to get my license. There was not examination or anything like that at all. *shrug* Yup. |

I passed my theory first time and the practical 2nd time. I kept stalling so failed as I didn't have control of the car!
I learnt to drive in London which has a lot of benefits but apparently its harder to pass there than anywhere else in the UK. |

I passed on my first try, but on maneuverability (it's like a box of four cones with a fifth out in front, and you have to pull forward and then back up through the cones. It's a really stupid, pointless test) you aren't allowed to knock over the cones, and I hit one. I started having this mini freak out because I'd been extra careful, and I had practiced maneuverability the night before until I could literally do it with my eyes closed. So I start having this mini panic attack, but I pulled through (somehow the dang thing stayed up), and parked.
Then, my examiner was like "You passed! Congratulations!" I could have hugged that lady. So then I went into the DMV with a really sad face and hugged my mom and she was like "It's okay, you'll get it next time." And I look up and I'm like "Gotcha! I passed!" It was a fun day. |

I passed the written test the first time with one wrong. Still do not know the answer to the question. It was - "What are your parking lights for", and no the answer is not for when you are already parked
The first road test - G1 exit exam I passed the first time with a 98.5, the second road test was the G2 exit exam and I passed the first time as well with a 99.6 |

I passed on my first try. Te part that I remember being most nervous about was parallel parking, especially since I took my test in my parents minivan, but turned out I was a natural |

I don't remember. Three? Maybe four?
One of the times I took it, I failed for running a red light. To this very day, if you took me back to that intersection and asked me to show you that red light, I couldn't do it.
The time I took it that I actually passed, I technically failed. I parallel parked correctly, but to far away from the curb. Parallel parking was weighted with a heavy enough score that if you failed it, you failed the test. The tester was like "Yeah, if I fail you, you're going to have to recieve permission from the state to take it again, so I'm not going to fail you. You pass."
I took the test in Missouri, and at least at the time, Missouri had a law that after a certain number of failures, you had to file for permission to take the test with the state before you could take it. Serious.
Funniest story - my brothers birthday is in November, so he was among the first in his class to take the test. He was so stoked, he talked about it for months before hand.
He failed.
He was so embarassed to have to go back and admit to all his friends that all of his trash talking was basically for nothing, that he instead elects to tell his friends that he HIT A PEDESTRIAN while he was taking the test, and that's why they didn't give him his license.
That story followed him for two years, until a teacher that we'd both had asked ME what had happened. Of course, relishing the opportunity to rat out my stupid older brother, I was like "Pfft, that's not what happened!", and wrecked his story. Haha... |

^^ I thought they ADDED points if you hit people! You know? 10pts for a runner, 20 for a bicyclist (because they move faster)? |

I passed first time too, but would be worried if I had to take the test again now, as got a feeling I have picked up some bad habits as it'a 25 years since I took the test! |

Passed my first time. Written missing all the points you could miss while still passing. The actual driving portion I only messed up parallel parking. I was uber freaking out before my drive test cause the only car my family had was manual transmission, but somehow I made it. |

Haven't taken it yet! I waited to get my learner's permit until I was 18. I don't know what my thought process was with that...I'm really regretting it. Here I am, 18 and five months & still don't have my license. I'm hoping the driver's test will be easy. I passed my written permit test with flying colors! I tend to get a little anxious behind the wheel. I suppose the next few months will be a good time for me to practice. It's just a bummer not being able to drive myself anywhere!
I take the bus a lot anyways, with the gas prices being as rediculous as they are! |

I got my P's on my second go. The first time, I failed for not taking my handbrake off completely and driving. Second time was much easier because it was the second time and I got an easier test course and it was much quieter haha. |

I passed the third time, but they're super strict over here (because the traffic is so dense), so most people take a few tries, especially women. In fact, any woman who passes at her first try is considered quite an exception. I passed my written test the first time. |

I passed on my fourth try. With the same examiner who had failed me two months earlier. I had to do what Theresa was saying about going back to the DMV and getting a renewal/permission on my permit. Haha.
When I look back on the situation, I honestly do not think I was ready for my license yet. Not even by the time I finally passed. I was too nervous of a driver. I don't think I was really "ready" to be driving on my own until I'd had my license for 6 or 7 months. And then I totaled my car on an icy bridge before I'd even had the license for a year.
In hindsight, I'm glad I failed those first few times because I honestly think I was too scared to be behind the wheel and would have been a real safety risk. |

I'm getting mine in 2 weeks...AHHHH !!!!!! I waited until I was 17 to get my permit for three reasons. 1-I was too lazy to finish the driver's manuel, and I lost it. 2-I couldn't afford driver's ed at the time. 3-I had a broken foot for 6 months...not the best thing for someone learning to drive
I'm really worried about a few things. I'm afraid that I'll go over a line getting out of the parking lot (automatic fail!) And I'm afraid of parallel parking, cause the car I use for practice is this big mini van, and the car I'm useing for the test is really small. It's compleatly different! |
