Just getting a feel for where most of you compete. If I didn't mention a venue that you know of, please let me know!

I'm in the Western Region and I'd say most of the feisanna I attend these days are held in hotels or convention centers. In the past few years, there has been only one feis I've attended that's held outdoors and that's the Feis at the Fair. (Of course, when I was younger there was also Brothers of St. Patrick and the Claddagh feis that were held half indoor, half outdoor. Also, this year will be the first Celtic Crown Feis in Las Vegas which will also be outdoor, but I digress.)

The only venue I could think of not on your list is church halls. I've been to a few (again, when I was much younger) that were held in churches.

I've only ever feis-ed at schools because they have the big stages, along with gyms for the intermediate and primary dancers.
Think I've visited almost every school in my area at least twice now, tehe.

Most of the feiseanna I attended were in hotels, though I have been to my fair share of convention centers. Those weren't my favorites though, as there was too much open space and a mass of 800+ dancers, siblings, etc. in one giant room. The only positive I can think of for convention centers is that they never got overheated!!

Of Colorado USA's 7 feiseanna, three are held in events centers at county fairgrounds, two outdoors, one at a school and one at a hotel.

i think the only feiseanna thati have ever been to that weren't held in schools were the majors,

apart from the majors being held in convention centres, hotels or theatres, all of the other competitions i have been to were in schools, apart form a few smaller comptitions that only had two schools competing at, and that include the 3 different organisations that i have been in

we have the majority of our feiseanna in schools.

Local competitions are held at schools where they have an auditorium and stage. But for States and Nationals we have them in huge centers with stages, seating and all. However, this year's States are held at a local school.

I think the only time I haven't been to a feis held in a school auditorium was for Nationals, when we danced in a massive stadium.

Most have been at hotels, but once in Colorado, we danced on a covered stage outside. But it rained, and everything got muddy. It was alot of fun though

Years ago all our feiseanna were held either in schools or local halls. Now they all seem to be at hotels, I guess this is because more people are prepared to travel further to get to competitions and having the feis at a hotel benifits the organisers and the hotelliers.

I've never been to a local feis in Britain that wasn't in a school. I've never personally been to a British major that was held in a hotel although needless to say I haven't been to them all; I'm not sure Pontins/Butlins counts as a 'hotel' per se.

The Colorado Feisanna break down like this:
Fairgrounds: 3- Winterfeis, Feili Denver, Fall Feis
Outdoor (part of a festival): 2- CUIS and Longs Peak
School: 1- Pikes Peak
Hotel: 1- Octoberfeis

I've never been to a feis that wasn't in a hotel ballroom.

In the ECR, almost all competitions are held in high schools, though there is one that used to be held in a convention centre and is now in a soccer complex. I've never been to a feis in a hotel, with the exception of the Oireachtas.

Don't forget here in the UK the Miner's Welfare and Working Mens Clubs and some smaller sports halls.

CAID hold their nationals in Pontins/Butlins so not sure what that counts as!

im in the Southern U.S region and all the feises I've been to have been in hotels! well excpet for one that was in a convention center

All the ones I've been to are in either a hotel or convention center, usually hotels.

In the Mid-Atlantic (I would say) I mainly end up going to feisanna at schools (I have been to some at hotels and fairgrounds though)

Most of mine are in hotels. My favorite, however ,is at the site of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival - an outdoor venue. Another one is at the New York State Fairgrounds.

They have feiseanna in schools? They only have them in hotels where I live.

^ We've been moving to schools here in Utah... still expensive, but you don't have to pay for catering stuff...

Mine are mostly in schools and sports complex's. I have also been to a few hotel ones, particullarily in alberta they seem to have them in hotels. Of course oireachtas is in a hotel too in my region

Oh gosh...it all depends on which feis I'm going to....for the most part they are held in hotel meeting rooms and ballrooms and convention complexes But there are some outdoor/fairground feiseanna in my region...
