30 Something Cousin in divorce and already dating -- and I'm still single ... (vent ...) en>fr fr>en By rosalinde Comments: 1461, member since Sat Jun 20, 2009On Sun Mar 13, 2011 02:41 PM
I just got off the phone with my cousin (she called because my mom lives in Tokyo so she wanted to know how mom was doing > fine but worried about the reactor of course) and then somehow we hit upon her marriage and she told me she and her husband split after Christmas and they're now living apart. Luckily they're still on fairly good terms because they have a son, but she's already seeing someone else. In fact she has been doing so for the past four years.
I tried to be understanding and objective, but it just drove home to me that I haven't had a SO since 1999 ... Now I'm not exactly looking very hard, I really like my independence and I don't mind being alone at all, in fact I like it a lot. But sometimes I miss having someone.
*sigh* I just had to vent a little. Again, I do love my independence and I fall in love extremely rarely (I look at these things way too rationally ...), but man, she's my age and has been married with a kid and dating another guy, and I'm still by myself ...
Bleh ...

Sometimes to miss someone around you can be a strong feeling, but on the other hand to do things on your own way is also fine, but the feeling comes up but will go away, its just some of those days.
Hey you ll be fine

I know I am really late in replying...
I am reading between the lines and making interesting assumptions concerning your cousin, but it doesn't appear that her life is all perfect. I don't know that I would be jealous of her situation quite frankly.
I am a strong believer that being single can be a great thing! You do need to have a fulfilling life and that can be found outside of SO. As long as you are content with the relationships you have in your life, then why worry about not having a SO? Don't let others' timelines influence yours. Do things on your schedule. |
