Hey, all. Just wanted to post some photos from our recital this past weekend. The photographer is a friend of one of my teen students, and he took some awesome shots!

1. "Riot Rythm" — Advanced jazz. Now you can see how my socks turned out!
2. "Sweet Child of Mine" — Modern. We were in the middle of doing a cross lift.
3. "Ballroom Blitz" — Pointe. He took a lot of photos of this dance, but this one's my favorite. The tutus were so fun!
4. "When I Grow Up" — Advanced jazz. Remember when I asked about using high heels? Well, this was the product. The girls did great!
5. Willy Wonka. My ballet this year was Willy Wonka. This is the scene where Augustus falls in the chocolate river.
6. "Annie's Garden" — Advanced ballet. I also posted about using these costumes again next year. They were STUNNING on stage.

I wish I could have gotten a ticket! Looks like a fun show!

Looks like a ton of fun. Picture 3 is great - they are really up there! I didn't see your description, just the pictures and when I got to picture 5 I was like "WHAT is going on here?"

Haha! cheerspirit — The photo is kind of awkward. But basically, the "kids" (Charlie, Augustus, etc) are finally in the factory and they're "eating" all the "candy."

4. High School Musical. This was a tap production consisting of 4 different classes. (Not my classes.)
5. "Diva Mega Mix." Another adult jazz class. (Not my class.)

Ballroom Blitz - one of my instructors chose that same costume for her jazz routine - Whip My Hair. Those costumes are really fun.

Fun, but a pain in the butt! We didn't realize how many separate pieces the costume was going to come with, and every girl in this class had ONE dance to change for their ballet routine. I dance with my advanced classes, and I ended up sewing the tutu and the black belt thingy onto the leotard so it would all come off in one piece.

A note to anyone who's thinking of using it? The tutu will gradually ride up while you dance, and the leotard will gradually slide down while you dance, causing a nice T&A show for the audience. We all learned after dress rehearsal!

Looks like you had a great show. I love picture #3 too! My show was this past weekend also. So much anticipation and excitement building up to this event but I have to say I am enjoying the break now!

I love the Adult classes. I love that there are several adults of ALL ages and that they are performing! That is awesome.

Thanks, ladies! Yes, we have a HUGE adult following. There were about 6 or 7 adult routines in the recital. And funny enough, MOST of our adults don't even have children who dance with us.

We do a 30 minute ballet production each year. It's my "baby." I decide what characters to have, what each class is (this year, we had golden geese, golden tickets, candy, bubbles, etc.), I choreograph all the filler parts, and I edit all the music together. It's a massive undertaking, but I LOVE it.

I agree -- great photos. I, too, love the adults participating. They look so happy up there! Kudos to you. And congrats as well on your "baby" (ballet production). That is terrific!

I think he changed seats during the show. Some shots I can tell are from "floor" seats, but some are definitely from the lower balcony. I'm amazed that an amateur photographer took such great dance photos. It's hard to photograph dancers.

Great shots!! I too use the Blitz costumes this year for my Mad Hatter's hip hop...Great info about the riding up/down I have young kids using them so not T&A to speak of so to say yet...LOL!! But a few are bigger girls, so I may have to adjust I did away with the belt altogether since there is no way they can go to the bathroom even once it is on And I too ordered the little hats and used the feather and striped material to dress them up. They look super cute and I hot glued each one. We are doing funky make up a la Johnny Depp too!!

Definitely relieved to be done, but I'm already planning for next year. Ha!

And we didn't buy the mini hats because they were like $10 a piece. I made them out of foam and dollar store accessories. The feather was cute, but I thought it gave the costume more of a Moulin Rougue feel instead of a Ballroom Blitz feel. I'll definitely be wearing mine for Halloween, though! We decided they make great pirate costumes if you wrap the extra piece of fabric across your head.

Wait, wait, wait... amateur? Wow... someone is good! Please tell me that this photographer is an aspiring professional.

In my other dance life, we have a hobby photographer who takes great photos. Honestly, he could be a professional if he pursued it, but he's too busy being a scientist.
