Please cold you help me find pictures of muscular/bigger ballerinas? I like those better than the anorexic ballerinas I like ballet that promotes health if you know what I mean. Thank you not trying to offend anyone I just love ballet thatss healthy <3

I think you may get a few people who will get upset at your statement. Don't let that bother you, I think the majority of us know what you are asking.

Lines Ballet has A LOT of muscular dancers and photos. Drew Jacoby is the first person that I think of.

Having worked for LINES Ballet and knowing the dancers- I can say that they may be muscular (and certainly tall) but they are not 'bigger'. I hear that pretty often from people and I cannot fathom why. I have worked with SF Ballet and LINES and the dancers are equally skinny. Meredith Webster and Laurel Keen are beautifully built and very, very trim- as are all of the dancers. Former LINES/SFB dancer Muriel Maffre is one of the tiniest dancers I have ever seen- she's like a tall bird. I think the reason you see more of their musculature is that they aren't wearing tights in many of the images taken by Marty Sohl that are so famous. Without tights, you can see the definition better but in real life they look like your average uber-trim dancer.

To answer your question: Misty Copeland is a bit more curvy than your average ballerina... I'm sure there are others.

I think using 'anorexic' as a descriptive term is a little silly. It's a disorder and anorexics don't all look alike, nor to all thin dancers have eating disorders. If you mean super thin, say that. I know you didn't mean any offence, just personal opinion.

Flip through Ballet Austin's gallery. Like madseason said about the Lines and SFB dancers, they are all still trim and very slender, however it seems Stephen Mills prefers a more athletic build. They are beautiful dancers and they have beautiful musculature as well.

Also to second madseason, anorexia is a disease. Someone can be thin - even under weight - and be perfectly healthy and have a good relationship with food. Whereas you may judge someone else in need of losing a few pounds who is suffering from anorexia or bulimia. Weight is not a determining factor of the disease and it is grossly unfair to assume that just because someone is thin that they have an eating disorder.

the great Sofiane Sylve is a someone who has enormous power, strength and technique to back it up. she may not be Zakharova but still incredibly enticing, if not more.

Everyone has different body types, dancers included. Not everyone can get into the Vaganova School unless you meet their requirements but that doesn't mean you can't become a dancer.
