Not sure if this is the right section to post this but here it goes.

I'm on the carnival court for my town and when they called out the selection a few months ago they did it in reverse order. There were four of us who were going to make up the court so they called out the reserve first, then the 2nd princess, then the 1st princess/deputy queen and then the queen. It was down to me and this other girl right at the end and I was picked as 1st princess/ deputy.

We have our first carnival this weekend and our queen isn't going to be there as she is on a school trip. So therefore that makes me queen while she is away right? Well no, they picked the other princess to do it, which i think is totally wrong because its my job, the other thing that makes it strange is that there is no apparent reason why she has taken my place as deputy queen. The only thing I know though is that the whole of the carnival committee know her and her family well as her Grandad fixes the car that pulls our float.

Is this a bit of a fix or am I just over reacting. I actually feel very upset about the whole thing because I put in a lot of work arranging trips for day dresses and stuff because the others couldn't be bothered, and i really wanted to do it. I feel that it's actually my job to be queen and they have just let her do it because they know her well. Do you think this is really unfair and if I should maybe say something??

What are you going to say? "I know you only picked her because her granddad runs the town, and that's not fair to me?" Yeah, good luck with all that. You'll get run out of town on a rail...

Taking your story on it's face, it isn't fair. But, crooked people don't usually worry with the rules.

I would be very hurt. You are the one who should have been given the chance to fill in for the absent Queen. I would approach the comittee or get you mum/dad to do it for you. Its totally out of order.
