Do you mean that you've done "Disco-Freestyle"? If not, could you explain what you mean by freestyle? I've know that term to mean different things to different dancers.
However, if you look at the stickies on the Modern boards, you will find that "Modern dance" is a term that is somewhat inaccurately used to describe a large branch of dance. Most people go with the idea of modern dance starting in the late 1800s, early 1900s, with a large number of pioneers that were rebelling against dance constructs of the time. Examples include Fuller, Graham, Duncan, St.Denis...etc. Most modern dance forms have a technique of some sort, although different branches will have different degrees of specificity in that technique.
I recommend that you poke around the stickies for more information and come back if you have further questions that the stickies did not answer. |

If you're in England then Modern dance will be Modern Stage, that's the same as Jazz Dance. Contemporary is what you would call the style of dance being discussed on this forum. |

i done disco freestyle for 9 years, now ive moved on to modern, jazz, ballet and tap. modern is like slow, but there is much, much more control in the body, it really works the muscles. its VERY good for stregthening and making your dancing look lovely! |

hi, I do modern, tap and ballet. I would say that freestyle is kind of similar it modern but modern is slower and you use your body in a slightly more controlled way, i hope this will make some sense and that it will help you! |
