Elevator Game

A couple days ago while looking around for dance game ideas, i came across something called the Elevator Game -- it uses a square piece of cloth, I believe, that all the students stand on.

Unfortunately I didn't bookmark the page and I haven't been able to find it again (I did use the search function as well, unsuccessfully).

I have forgotten the rest of the game and would really love to find that thread again! If anyone knows which thread I am talking about and can link me to it that would be great, or if someone cares to explain the game to me here again that would be amazing as well.

Thanks! :D

I don't know if it's the same one I play with my little ones, but here's what we do:

I have the kids all stand behind me in the corner of the room (like in a clump). We pick a floor and pretend to press the button (and it's fun for them if you take turns asking a different one to pick the floor). Then I say, "7th floor is _____." some kind of dance step. Leaps, spins, bourree, marches, etc. Because I use it with little ones, I try not to be too specific unless we're working on something in particular (like pas de chat or something).

After I announce what the floor is, they all run out to the middle of the floor and start dancing. I let it go on for a little while, and then I tell them to get back on the elevator. Then the process starts over again.

Was that the same game?

EDIT: Here's a thread with a similar version: www.dance.net . . .

You can find other game threads by searching for "dance games" — www.dance.net . . .

I stand up our tumbling mats on their ends, and fold two panels in to make a 3-sided structure for everyone to squeeze into. It's an elevator, a spaceship, Santa's sleigh... depends on the day. The game is pretty much the same - we push the floor button, say 3-2-1 "blast off" (reach arms up), or say "On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer..." and fly. Then I tell them what floor or planet (planet skip, or planet jump). For the Christmas version, I say "Santa brought everybody spinning tops" or some toy/gift that they can act out. The kids love these games!

Try checking your browsing history. Sometimes, I start typing in part of a word, in my browser, and it will pop up.

I have never heard of it... Sorry, but I just wanted to say that I love those ideas. They are really cute, and I think the kids would love them. Can't wait to try them.

Good luck with your search. Let us know if you find it.
