Crafts & Hobbies Something excited happened to me at our downtown street fair. en>fr fr>en By SoloJazzDancer Comments: 13919, member since Wed Jun 30, 2004On Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:13 PM
For the whole month of Aug. I did our downtown street fair. This is the second year they have had the street fair. It's usually part of June, all of July and all of Aug. Because the last fair of the summer was supposed to have bad rain, they cancelled it. We all wanted them to have it, so they scheduled it the next week. It was every Thurs.
People always come up to me and say how much they love my stuff and how beautiful my stuff is, how talented I am, etc. If I had a nickel for every person who said that, I'd be rich by now and it wouldn't matter that I'm not working much right now. So when this one girl & her boyfriend/husband (I don't know which he is) came up to my booth, I was wondering where I knew her from. She looked older but familiar. She was looking at all I had and a lot of people do that so I didn't think anything of it. Then she tells me we went to high school together (oh yeah!) and we rode the bus together. Mind you, she hasn't seen me since 1973 probably. I guess I haven't changed. Then she tells me how she sews and has opened up a boutique in our downtown. I'm trying to figure out why she is telling me this other than to make casual conversation. She says that she would like to buy my stuff outright and sell it in her boutique! Oh my gosh! She is going to call me on Sept. 8th and she took my card. Wow! The only thing she won't take is my jewelry but that's okay. She didn't see everything because I had more greeting cards than I had out but only so many fit in the holder. I didn't have any sweat shirts out because it was still summer. I am going to buy more dish towels to stamp on as they have been selling.
Just thought I would let you guys know the good news. Wish me luck. I hope I sell a lot of things. 7 Replies to Something excited happened to me at our downtown street fair. |

If you check this board and the arts board, I've posted some cards that I've done. Some I have sent to people on a Yahoo card making group where we all swap cards and some I haven't sold yet. I haven't scanned some of my shirts but I will try to send scans of my jewelry. I don't have photos of my shirts but I will see how they scan. The child's shirt's I can scan and you will see the whole thing. I can also scan my dish towels. Check out what I have on here and I will scan some of the rest so you can see what I do. Thank you for what you said. |

These Earrings have Mother of Pearl discs and I think the squares are MOP. I know the picture isn't so great but that's how the scan came out. I will try to take better scans of them when I can. |

The birds are handblown glass and I don't remember what the other beads are. I have to look them up and let you know. |

As you can probably tell, I made the cards the earrings are on. They look more professional now as I have improved them but these were the first ones I made. I stamped on them and now I have my business name "Gail's Groovy Tee's & Things" made on my computer and glued on the front. On the back I have what the earrings are made of and a price written in pencil so if you are giving them as a gift, you can erase the price.
These are called Luv Beads because you can wear them as a bracelet or necklace. They are stretchy and the beads are yellow Bugle beads and black and white beads, This one is very long and took me a long time to string. |
