Hey Gemma,

You are probably best looking under the Disco - Official Rules section. I think there is a sticky which explains it all!

I'll give you a quickie here though... :)

'Losing lifes / marks' refers to when a dancer is placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a final at a competition, however it does depend on how many dancers were in this section to begin with the depict which places will lose lifes. By this I mean...if there is a straight final with 7 dancers, only 1st place would class as losing a life. If there is for example 15 dancers (this would be split into two heats), the dancers would all dance their heats then if sucessful be put through to a semi and again if sucessful, a final. In this instance both 1st and 2nd place would class as losing a life.

To move up to starters a dancer has to lose 3 lifes at 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. I think this is the case when moving from starter to inter too. However when a dancer is trying to move from inter to champs they must have at least one first place.

I teach Freestyle and as far as I am up to date these are the current rules. There may be a slight variation in amount of dancers etc but this will all be cleared up in the Disco section.

Hope this helps!
Thanks
Amy
