(YES! YES! Finally I get to be the first one to post about it! :D)

So I know it's really early, but is anyone participating this year? I know I am. And not only am I participating, I'm also ML-ing for my region again. And not only am I aiming for 50 000...I'm going for the big one: 100 000 words. I'll do another diary this year (that will hopefully be more coherent than last year's...) but I'll put it up closer to the time.

Soo...who else is joining me for this month of joyful insanity?

Me! Me! Me!
This'll be my second year (not counting camp NaNo) and instead of procrastinating and ending up writing 40K in 8 hours (it was miserable... Last day of July and only 10K. The story turned from bad to ugly) I'll actually stay on a decent schedule. Heh heh.
I'll be writing a thriller if I can think of a good plot... I'm not bad at those.

I'll try again. I guess it will be my 3rd year. I've never gotten more than 20,000 words.

I think I'm going to try again this year. I did it the past two years and was successful, so we'll see if I can keep up the streak! Although I might have to make a new profile...I just had my info saved on my laptop, but I have a new laptop now, so we'll see if I remember my username and password.

For everyone planning on doing Nano (or even thinking of it!) I bring you this:

www.how-to-write-a-book-now.com . . .

This site was created by the former ML of my region. It's a very helpful site to peruse through, full of all kinds of ideas on how to plot out your novel, and more. I highly recommend it!

I'm thinking of striving for the word count goal, but change the content to my school work, specifically my senior paper. It may get pretty long, and it'd be cool if I keep track of it like this, even though the writing may be a bit more involved. And I have to edit it.

I'd kill to do this, I really would. But given that I have more words than this for school work, plus 12 novels to read by December (2 down!), I can't.

I'm jealous of everyone participating!

Yes, yes, yes! I am in! I have a metric tonne of schoolwork to do but it's not like I can't write a novel at the same time, right? Right?

Whoooo!!!

Oh god, and now I've just gone and logged in and read the excerpt I posted of last year's novel and have realised that that novel is gone because it was stolen when my laptop was stolen out of my house :(

I miss that novel!

And for anyone who's interested, here's my user profile.

Me, me, oh me!! I'm in again! I won last year's NaNo and then Screnzy and July Camp, so I'm all geared up and ready to go. I'm going for 100K, preferably even 150K (*reads back, recoils in panic at word goal*).
I'm dancer_kirsten BTW. Feel free to add me as a buddy after the Big Wipe (or do you keep your writing buddies?).

I think it stands for NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth and you have to write 1,000 words a day for 30 days or something.

I would LOVE to, but I'm not back in the country until the 3rd of Nov and then I'll be back to work after three weeks off - it'll be hellish and I know that if I don't start on the 1st and go everyday, then I'll just lose interest. If you skip one day it's easier to skip a second day (and so on), right? I might do it in February or something instead.

But good luck everyone. And don't procrastinate like me!

^ Right about the name!

It's actually an event where participants attempt to write a novel of at least 50 000 words during the month of November - ie, they start writing at midnight Nov 1, and end at midnight Nov 30 (unless they finish early, that is).

It actually breaks down into about 1667 words per day, so closer to 2000, but you had the general idea right!

Louise - You could always do Camp Nano in the summer! It's pretty similar, except for a few differences that I can't remember off the top of my head, since I've never done it. Maybe someone who has can weigh in...?

Actually, CampNano is similar to regular NaNo (50,000 words in a month, but since it's held in both July and August you get an extra day. Whoop!).

Like I said, it's held in both July and August, and you choose either month (whichever suits you best) to write your 50,000 word novel. Some people do both months, in which case it's 100,000 words (some do two separate novels, others rebel a bit and write one 100,000 word novel over the course of those two months).

I took part in July. Because it was new it didn't feel as 'official' as normal NaNo and I didn't quite feel as much pressure to 'win', so I decided to write something completely different. I still won, but I found out that children's fiction isn't my cup of tea at all. Oh well ...

That said, there are unofficial writing months almost every month (check out the NaNo site for links. They don't run these projects, but they do link to them for those who want to know, which I think is nice of them), so you can take part whenever it suits you best. I just feel that November, even if it can be a hassle, is just simply the write-that-darn-novel-already-missy-Month.

I'm going to take part this year, it'll be my first time doing it but I have a friend who has done it 8 times so far. I've got my plot all sorted and everything, although I have next to no idea for how to participate in the nano community.

Writing buddies are back.

I'm going to go to my regions kick off party today. First NaNoWriMo event I will be attending ever. If I like it I will go to some write-ins and the TGIO party.

The first 20 min was the most awkward thing ever. But once I got to talking and stuff it was really fun.
