Wow!

I remember reading on here somewhere about someone who used to use stockings as bra's by cutting out the crotch and the feet. MY GOD IT WORKS!

It's just so supportive! Perfect for dance!

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

The idea is that you take an old pair of tights (stockings), and cut out the gusset. This creates an opening for your head. Then, cut the feet of the tights off so that the sleeves are as long or as short as you would like. I find that sometimes they can be difficult to get on or off (especially after you've been active and have gotten sweaty) but they can be very supportive. I prefer them to have at least mid-length sleeves but they don't need that much.

I make the sleeves a bit longer and then roll them up. When I cut it with spaghetti strap thickness, they tend to cut into my shoulders. My ballet teacher taught me this YEARS ago! =)

Pictures anyone? I'm more of a visual learner.

You all are either small chested, or have the most supportive panty hose that have ever been panty hose. Because I can't imagine this working at ALL.

^I have a friend with DD's that uses this method in classes. She uses old dance tights, which are by nature more tight than run of the mill stockings. She says it's not so much the waist band underneath her chest that supports her as much as the compression.

I'm not sure how it would work as an actual bra, haha, but I've definitely done it with various colors of tights to make sleeves that I could wear under tank tops or t-shirts. I'm with T that it must either be the size of the chest or miracle hose for it to work as a bra, haha.

I used to do this so much in highschool! One of the girls at dancing brought the trend to our little country town, and it stuck. I even used black tights in this manner for a ballet costume one year in our end-of-year concert! I can't remember them being WOW supportive, but I don't really have much to support anyway.

Haha yes, I'm small chested, so I guess that makes a difference, but I wasn't really using it as a bra - just over my bra. Just as extra support. It has been great :) Especially since sports bras never seem to work for me.

You're small chested AND sports bras never seem to work? That doesn't compute...all my sports bras are sooo comfy and squeeze everything in quite nicely, perhaps you need to try a different brand!
