So I've heard GREAT things about this book from so many people. I just got the audiobook (which is read by JIM DALE!! The guy who read the Harry Potter series). But I don't really know anything about the story. Can anyone at least tell me what genre this is? Fantasy? Historical fiction? I'm afraid to read too much about it online because I don't want to see any spoilers. So far, no one can even tell me whether or not it's a kid's book. Has anyone read it yet?

I just finished this book. It's definitely not a kid's story. It's very dark, and can be a little hard to follow at times. The story jumps around a lot with each chapter. I would classify it in Fiction...maybe a bit of historical fiction as it takes place in the late 1800's early 1900's.

The descriptions of the circus itself are amazing. The author makes you feel like you're actually walking through the circus and looking at everything.

Panic, I've noticed a few posts about books by you, and just thought I'd mention that you may really like goodreads.com. A lot of your questions might be answered more quickly there. It's helpful too because you can have a look at the reviews of the book to get a general idea of what people think of it, find threads where people are discussing it, etc.

Mind you, keep posting here, as the dance.net community would I'm sure like to continue to hear your thoughts on books. I just mention it because I thought it might be a site you'd like.

The book in question is one I recently added to my list of to-read books. It does look interesting, although not having read it yet I can't answer your questions. Very interested to hear your thoughts on it, though!

I do have a goodreads account, but I love that site, and it's a great suggestion for anyone who doesn't know about it. But when I looked up the book, it seem to be associated with like 15 genres (including historical realism AND fantasy). Normally, wikipedia clearly lists a books genre, but this one is so new it doesn't even have a page yet. And I heard an interview with the author on Diane Rehm, but I'm still not 100% sure what I'm getting myself into. Everyone I've talked to loves it though, so I can't wait to start it.
