Teachers - Competitions what are some good Beginner Level competitions in the East Coast" en>fr fr>en By tinydancer0417 Comments: 301, member since Sun Nov 25, 2007On Wed Sep 28, 2011 08:29 PM
I have a new competition team and am looking for some good competitions for newbies? We aren't looking for these competitions that u can't score what u deserve unless u spend tons of money and take tons of dancers. We are less than 20 dancers and only practice 3 hhours a week. Just looking to do competitions that are fair and fun for the girls to get their feet wet with the competition scene. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 4 Replies to what are some good Beginner Level competitions in the East Coast" |

I have a similar situation. Last year we attended the Performing Arts Alliance (based in PA) and "Access Broadway" - in the Debut Division. This year I'm looking into "All American Talent." (There were some other local ones, but I sat in their audience first, and didn't like what I saw.) |

Can't recall what area you are from? I am in NJ...
MBC was always our "warm up" competition before the tougher ones.
That's Entertainment might be okay as well? |

We had exactly the same situation last year with some beginners in the dance competition world, I asked a lot of friends that have been to many competitions and we found the perfect fit at Dancers Inc. in addition to Dance Educators of America.
I will always bring my students to DEA because of the benefits of the excellence in their workshops and quality of their judging, but we were looking for something to do along with DEA for our new competition team without having to demand them to partake in workshops for their first competition experience.
Dancers Inc. was great for our new students. We entered our new more recreational students under the category of "future star" which is like a novice category and they fit in very nicely there. That way we could also enter our semi competitive dancers in their "rising star" and our strong competitive students in "all star". They make a place for everyone, and are very accommodating.
Hope I helped! |

We have had success in the past with Beyond the Stars and Showstopper. Both competitions offer 3 divisions for beginner, advanced, and competitve dancers. Revolution has 3 divisions as well. I think you will find that most competitions now offer several divisions. You also shouldn't have a problem finding competitions on the east coast. Most of the companies travel across the entire US. Good luck! |
