Neither did I. Unfortunately this is just one of the many things that bother me about regulations here. Really the only thing she's restricted on legally is referring to herself as a massage therapist. But as I said, I will not even consider looking at anyone who isn't certified, and I've already made my opinion known to them on the subject.

I'm licensed as a cosmetologist, so it's no doubt different, but I started working at a salon before I had taken the boards. The salon had their own regulations that I had to be certified within six weeks or I would be let go.

Her not passing the boards does explain her weak massage technique though.

^ Not really; it's a written test and not a practical. You don't have to be talented, you just have to know the information. There are plenty of qualified-on-paper therapists out there who suck.

LLD, she is allowed to call herself a bodyworker or a massage practitioner or something of the sort.
