I do not work for any college... but I have watched college recitals.
The songs i liked the best are songs that have 'ups and downs' in the tune. (I hope I am making sense)
I enjoyed songs that drew my attention to the dancer for example:
Any songs from the animated, 1997 movie: 'Anastasia'
Here is the list of songs from 'Anastasia' that have lyrics:
1) "Once Upon a December Prologue" -(Lacey Chabert and Angela Lansbury) -
2) "A Rumor in St. Petersburg" -(Jonathan Dokuchitz and Kelsey Grammer) -
3) "Journey to the Past" - (Liz Callaway)
4) "Once Upon a December" - (Liz Callaway)
5) "Learn to Do It" - (Kelsey Grammer, Liz Callaway and Jonathan Dokuchitz)
6) "Learn to Do It" (Waltz reprise) - (Kelsey Grammer)
7) "In the Dark of the Night" - (Jim Cummings)
8) "Paris Holds the Key (To Your Heart)" - (Bernadette Peters and Jonathan Dokuchitz)

10) "At the Beginning" (end credits) - (Donna Lewis & Richard Marx)
11) "Journey to the Past" (end credits) - (Aaliyah)
The following songs do not have words, but the songs are theatrical, and are easy to choreograph them to. - For any of these songs, 'dancing' out a story would be cool
1) Prologue - David Newman -
2) Kidnap and Reunion - David Newman -
3) Speaking of Sophie - David Newman -
4) The Nightmare - David Newman -
5) Finale - David Newman -
Please feel free to let me know if you need any more information for any of the songs I suggested.... I hope I helped you

Have a nice day
