Here is the latest tartan from Dalgliesh, Dress Purple MacKellar, just launched this week for Autumn / Winter 2011. It is a beautiful addition to the purple range and would look equally good with purple or black velvet.

I saw this made up in an Aboyne outfit when I was visiting Highland Reel yesterday and it is absolutely gorgeous. Just as well my younger dancer wasn't with me, being a purple fan I know she will want that one next!!

Make sure you use curtain weight velvet ( not dress weight ) so look in any shops which sell curtain fabrics and you should find sample-hangers for a variety of velvets in a range of shades. Always opt for 100% cotton or the closest to 100% cotton! This was sourced locally (UK) - good luck with your search. The velvet for both the purple jacket and Aboyne outfit are exactly the same.

Also, 'Happy New Year' to all the dancers and their families around the globe - may 2012 be a successful year for you all.

This tartan was only designed and woven for the first time last October. Maybe it is similar but certainly it cannot be this one!
