Ok so i was going to see if any of you could help me with 2 questions! First being...I could of sworn my mom told me about this tap institute in Hagerstown, MD..and you could do like a 9 month program to get a certificate or something and they also had a tap company, but I can not find it ANYWHERE on the internet.....and 2ndly.....if I already have my BFA in Dance, and I'm certified in DMA....is there a way i can go to school to get something just saying i could teach at a public school if i wanted or do you have to get like a masters!? Thanks!!! L

What do you want to teach at a public school? :/ And if you have a Bachelors in dance and you're already DMA certified, what other kind of certifications could you need? Seems like you've got it pretty well under control...

Not sure about the laws in your state but in my state (nc) you have to be a certified teacher to teach in a public school. I have a degree in dance education and had to take a ton of education classes and pass all the education tests from the state (The Praxis is required in NC). Nothing is required to teach in private schools but a teaching certificate is required for public. I basically have a degree in education with my concentration in dance. If I choose to teach another subject I would just have to pass the test for that subject to teach it, I wouldn't be required to take any additional classes. You might want to call a university or even a school system and ask them.
