For Halloween, I'm going to be Chell from the video game Portal. Specifically, Portal 2.

Alas, I need an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device.

They don't sell these at the drugstore (though if they did, Valve would make a freaking FORTUNE!). One model sold at a charity auction for over $14,000. You can find fan-made models on ebay selling for hundreds. The most popular and touted as the "cheapest" do-it-yourself model costs $50 and seems to require a degree in engineering.

Anything more complex than "duct-tape that stuff together" is kinda too rich for my blood. SO. I am on a quest to build a recognizable portal gun cheaply and easily.

After raiding Michael's, here are my supplies:

Pipe cleaners, foam sheets, "Sticky Back Chalkboard Roll", 2 styrofoam eggs of different sizes, 2 packs 18 gauge aluminum jewelry wire, and some plastic tubes I found in our garage, no idea where they're from. (I asked Dad. "They're for some shelves we have in the attic. So we're going to need that back when you're done." K then.)

Our tools: a glue gun and a dream.

I'll keep you posted!

I would recommend adding paper mache and plasti-dip to your inventory. :)

Good luck with the project!
