Hi I am new here so I hope I am doing this right. I was perusing ideas for my creative movement classes and found a great post.

This posting was too old to comment on, but I wanted to thank Tappin_Cait for a sharing it and was thought we could piggyback on it with more ideas. This is such a great idea and I can't wait to try it with my little tappers!

We make a "tap pie". I'll try to explain it as if I was in class:

Make a circle and "pat" the pie crust out on the floor.
Me: "Child A, how many shuffle steps should we put in our pie?"
A: "3"
Me: "Child B, should we start on the right or left foot?"
B: "Left"
Everyone does 3 shuffle steps starting on their left foot. We bend down and "pick the shuffle steps up" and throw them in the pie. I usually comment that this ingredient is spicy or sweet, etc.
Repeat with other steps until everyone had a chance to make a decision or you run out of steps.
March around the circle to stir the ingredients together. Cover the pie and lift it all together (make a big deal about it being heavy) and put it in the "oven". Set the timer.

At the end of class, I pretend to hear the timer go off and we all go over and take the pie out of the oven and eat it so that we can remember all our tap steps.

If anyone else would like to share things like this they do with their classes, I would love to hear them!

BTW... I ADORE this site :)
