Hello!
If you read my other post in the BALLET GENERAL forum you already know that I am having some trouble with my dancing (thanks for all the comments, help was much needed!!).So in order to improve I wish to take more classes but money is a problem...
I've heard of people taking up jobs in their studios in trade of taking classes.I design in my spare time so I was wondering if maybe I could design/help with making costumes for my studio in trade of taking a few more classes in the week (even if it's just one more:/).
Do you think this could work? If so,how should I go about asking?
Thank you:) 2 Replies to How to ask studio for costume designing job?? |

If your studio orders costumes from a company, it is usually no use to ask if you can design for the studio. If they usually create their own designs, you can offer your help.
As an SO I can say that I don't need help with designing. I need help with sewing. That takes much more time, but I always get help from some mothers. They do it for free, so I'm not sure if I would give a student free classes in return.
This year I offered a student free classes in return for cleaning. And a lot of receptionists get paid with free classes.
I think you make more chance with offering cleaning or desk work in return for classes, then with designing or sewing.
Whatever you ask, start with offering your help. When the SO hesitates or says she can't afford anyone, or 'no vacancies', then start about free classes. |
