Ask a Judge suggestive music in a 14 yr old hip hop solo en>fr fr>en By DanceMomof2girls Comments: 1, member since Mon Nov 21, 2011On Mon Nov 21, 2011 08:23 AM
Hi,
I would like to know if judges have a problem with words that are "bleeped" out. For example, in my daughter's 14 yr old solo, there are lyrics such as "I don't give a f",. They do bleep out the whole word, but the f can be heard. There are a couple of "sh" sounds too to represent another 4 letter word, but again, the whole word is bleeped out. I'd like to know if judge's are okay with bleeped out lyrics and if there is a sound of the word that is bleeped out, is that a problem? Also, what about suggestive lyrics, such as “get it up”, “foreplay”, “touch you in all the right places”, etc? I wouldn't question it so much if it wasn't a solo. The moves she does don't seem to be inappropriate at all, but I am worried she will be given poor marks because of the lyrics and this would be discouraging to her. Any advice? Is there a standard where as long as the lyric is bleeped out mostly, that it is okay? Most hip hop songs are a bit sexual in nature, I have found, so I wonder if I am making a big deal over nothing. I have not yet approached the choreographer nor the director of the studio yet. Please let me know what you think. 1 Replies to suggestive music in a 14 yr old hip hop solo |

It would depend on the content of the rest of the song. I am not a fan of using songs that need bleeping. I have edited songs, myself, to remove all questionable content and it made it that it was not obvious that anything was bleeped. If I could not, I would not use the song.
Honestly, because other judges have been known to mark down, I would just avoid it, altogether. |
