Edited by hummingbird (128773) on 2011-11-25 21:38:16 No height weight ratios on DDN please.

I wanted to let my family at DDN know, my hubby Arin and I are expecting our first little one. We found out November 5th. I'm not sure when he/SHE is due. We haven't been able to make it to a doctor's. (No money, no insurence. So if anyone has an idea on what to do there, would love some advice.) Also, wish me luck. Send wishes this child doesn't end me :)

love,
DanceDynamic

I don't know who you are, but please do head this advice. No matter how much it may hurt your pride, pls for the sake of your future child do go to your local social services office, church, planned parenthood, etc. and find out how you can get on social services so you can get the pre-natal medical care that you and your unborn child need. There are so many programs out there to help young coupls having children. Do take advantage of them. Most states (in the US) now-a-days offer free health insurace for kids in low income families..do take advantage of this.

It seems fairly simple to get into some of these programs in Texas.
In the US it seems that there are some good programs to help you out.

Get to whereever you need to get to ASAP and get some prenatal care started.

My husband is 6'4", and a bit over 200 pounds. James was born 21 inches, and came home from the hospital at 5 pounds 13 ounces. So big parents don't necessarily guarentee big babies. :)

Llama, we HAVE started prenatal vitemins, just the matter of a Doctor, Medicaid/WIC.

Tee-When Arin(Hubby) was born, he was 7.8 22in. I, however, was 10lbs and 21ins lol. And HIS Dad was 12Lbs, can you imagin?!

It's kind of funny, when his Momma was pregnant with him, all she could hold down was Pepsi and Butterfingers. Same is currently going for me. I'm sick 24/7 and it's driving me crazy! Grrr :(

First off, congratulations! I'm glad you and hubby are looking forward to your new arrival :)

Prenatal vitamins is not prenatal care, which is what LLD said you need. When you are pregnant, you need to get yourself into programs so your baby is healthy. This needs to start the day you find out you are pregnant. Prenatal vitamins do not make a healthy baby. Doctors visits, glucose checks, ultrasounds, screening tools... THOSE lead to a healthy baby. I'm happy you are looking for help in identifying programs that may work for you and your hubby.

Now for some programs that may be of interest:
WIC: www.dshs.state.tx.us . . .
1 (800) WIC-FORU [1 (800) 942-3678] Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Obtain the telephone number and address of a WIC clinic that is close to where you live.

Planned Parenthood: www.plannedparenthood.org . . .
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-230-PLAN

Texas Medicaid: www.hhsc.state.tx.us . . .

I had super bad MS while I was PG. I had to take Zofran and Reglan and they worked miracles!!! If you can get to a doc and request some anti- nausea meds- you will be set!!!!

Okay yall, here's the deal. I went to the Food Stamp place today. The people there were rude and horrible. Anyway, to get on Medicaid I had to go get a pregnancy test from a center. Found a good/FREE one and got THAT done. (Due date is July 16 2012, BTW.) So I just need to fax that crap in and I have an interview on December 8th. So wish us luck!

love,
DanceDynamic

P.S. 7 weeks and 3 days.

Doesn't matter how horrible they are. At this point, they're what stands between you and your ability to provide for your baby. You grit your teeth and put up with their rudeness. Cry in the car if you have to, heh.

KK-He didn't, he had to get a friend from works wife to do it. They still have him working past 11PM, it's insane. But I'm glad we got it done too.

Tee-Yeah, it's what you gotta do. She was like "WHY are all these PEOPLE here?!" I told her "Cause they can't afford to eat." She was horrid :/

It's a shame they are so rude, but my guess is that there are unfortunately some people who abuse the system.

Hope everything works out for you.

You have to look at it from view of the people working in those centres, they have plenty of people applying who aren't entitled to food stamps.

These people take what could be given to those who really need it.

Imagine if you spent most of your day at a job where plenty of the applicants you see are trying to lie to you and steal from those who really need the help that you're meant to give?

Regaurdless, there is no need to be rude or cruel, exspecially when you don't know the situation. It it also not cool to say to someone, "Well, it's your own fault you can't get a job. You're the one who got an Ass.Arts, what a useless degree!"

Nowadays the way that things are it doesn't matter what kind of degree you have or even if you have a degree... jobs are still hard to come by.
