Is anyone thinking of going to this one this year? Just missed a great seat sale with Alaska Air. Interested in hearing from anyone who is also trying to book flights and accommodation. Does anyone who has been there in the past know if it's just one age group / pre-premier division? My daughters are both in the same level and I'm dreading the day they have to compete against each other.

I have a copy of the 2012 entry for Hawaii. I believe it should be posted on their website before the 18 of December. I think it has gone for approval to FUSTA.
As in all competitions they will split classes i.e. beginners if there are enough dancers to do so. In the past they have sometimes split the beginners and sometimes the novices but again it all depends on the number of entrants.
I don't have the past programs in front of me to confirm exactly what I am telling you so I'm relying on my memory.
Every year there seems to be a slight increase in the number of dancers. It is a lot of fun and a relaxed atmosphere.

We are all booked to attend these games. We are from Alberta and will have a novice dancer competing. Can't wait to get there for a wonderful holiday.

That's great. Glad to see someone else is going. I have 2 Intermediate girls and we are really looking forward to some warm weather and palm trees. Hope to see your here.

Our girls went last year, it was the best experience of their lives and our best holiday ever.The competition itself ended with lots of new friends from near and far and was the most relaxed competition we had ever been to. Will see if I can post some photos!

We are going to the hawaii highland games and we have 1 primary ,3 beginners,4 novice ,3 Intermediatte ,2 Premier dancers and we cant wait ! I doubt if any age groups will be split this year and they never split the premier.15 and under and Adults only however its a great competition with a lovely atmostphere and shouldnt be missed .This is our 5th year in a row and we do a lot of fund raising but its well worth it !!Looking forward to meeting new friends in the sunshine xx

We are pretty excited. The kids have spring break beforehand, so we are going on March 14 and leaving the day after the competition. Any tips for a first timer Mar53?

tips definately go to pearl Harbour ! the competition takes place over two days and its friendly.There is a parade around the field both days at lunchtime so bring shoes to go over the highland shoes as they dance at the bandstand when they get there.Bring a small flag from your country as all the children take it on the parade .

Great tip on bringing the flag. I will be sure to pack that. We also arrive on March 28th. We can't wait to get to the sunshine.

Thanks to all the helped to put this on. My girls had a great time... as did I. Great to have met some new dancers. Hope all that are still there are having a great time.
