Hey all,
so four years ago I practically destroyed my left hamstring and not knowing what i had done, continued to try to dance on it, landed myself in physical therapy for about five months. A week ago, I felt that all too familiar POP in my right hammy while doing an illusion, way up high near my butt, just like the left. I immediately placed myself in the loser corner with an ice pack and sat out the rest of class. Saw my ortho guy the next day and got a script for physical therapy. Since I didn't mess around this time, do you think the healing time will be shorter? And more complete? (I still have some stiffness and a little pain on the left side) I can't even open my legs into a straddle, but i'm not really limping anymore and I can raise the leg to 90 degrees with just a little discomfort. Also, I pulled the right after being completely warmed up and doing a simple step....how can I guard against future hammy pulls??? Now they are both vulnerable, I'm afraid if I pull one again that's it 1 Replies to repetitive hammy injury question |

Talk to the PT when you get there. If they know what your goals are, they can help you do what's best for your body.
Good for you for being smart this time and recognizing what you needed to do to care for your injury. No one can promise that it will be less than last time, because factors may be different - perhaps you tore more fibers on this one than you did on the other. But because you took care of it right away, you will definitely have a shorter healing time than you would have had otherwise. |
