Hello this is my first time posting on Dance.net but long time reader.

I have a past of dance but never did ballet let me start by saying i know i will never be a dancer ( professional level ) and never wanted to be i just do it for fun

Anyways the perth ballet school advertises Adult beginner ballet and beginner pointe classes im interested in the classes i live in the balcatta area but can travel 25 mins

also Dance express does adult jazz and ballet

what i want to know is if you have heard seen or know anything about the schools let me know please if you have gone or anything i would love to know

note also im not putting the schools together to see who is better i want to go to different studio's for different things so i can try to make class times perfect for me and work ect.

also if you have any suggestions for beginner ballet or pointe i would love to know of classes (no dance workshop please)

one more thing southern cross dance balcatta

they have tones of classes im interested in ballet but i then read it was faith based ( religious based)
i would not call my self a religious person so i wanted to know how deep the faith based went with this school what info does anyone know of the studio? i never even heard of faith based dance studios in perth what is the technique like ... is it like other non faith studios or is it censored ?

experience thoughts even personal views on any of the above schools i would like to read

Thank You All
:)

Hi!
First of all, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? That might have an impact on what school's best for you :)

I csn't really comment on Perth Ballet School purely because I've seen very little of what they've done. I've seen a couple of their lyrical items at comps, mainly in the under 16 sections, and they seem to do pretty well.
I've seen a lot of Dancexpress' work at the convention and their concert, and it was okay. I've never seen one of their classes though, but they 'seemed' to have more of a 'fun' environment rather than on polished technique?

You're in the Balcatta area, have you heard of Jody Marshall or Sefton Dance Academy? Jody Marshall does very well in comps but to be completely honest, it might not be the best fit for someone who isn't so experienced. Their classes are massive and it's very focussed on comp work and performance value. I went there for a while and found it stressful even when I did minimal classes. But they do have good items!
Sefton Dance Academy also does quite well at comps and I think they take on a lot of beginners as well as more experienced dancers. I went to their concert this year because my cousin goes there and I was very impressed. Their classes aren't too big and they had a lot of beginners as well as some awesome dancers. They had lots of seniors who are young adults who were really good and they had items by older adults too and my cousin said it's pretty friendly there. They might be worth checking out.

Anywhere you can go you can probably sit in on a lesson before you sign up for good. A good dance school for someone else might not be a good dance school for you if you know what I mean. just look around. :)
