I have to calamine my pointe shoes today, and I'm not sure how to do it. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions? Also, how long will it take to dry?

I know that it can take a few hours to dry, but you really want to give it at least overnight, if it were me I would actually give it about 24 hours. I don't do this myself but I know its important to not put on too much, just use a cotton ball or makeup sponge to dab it on until you have an even coat.

^ I agree that you want to give it a good period of time to dry, just to be sure. You might have to slightly water down the calamine depending on the brand so it goes on a bit easier but wait and see how it's applying before doing so.

Wait...they still have good calamine lotion out there? It's been years since I've seen one pink enough to even try attempting a calamine pointe shoe.

I've always used the skin toned face paints, Snazaroo do one called complexion pink that looks about the shade we used to use.

I think this explains pretty much how to calomine pointe shoes. I helped a friend calomine hers using this video.

^^ Yeah the only time I have had to do this with pointe shoes was once we did it with pancake makeup. Just figured it was really the same process. Come to think of it, I can't even remember the last time I have owned a bottle of calamine lotion. Hope it worked out well OP.

I just buy the calamine lotion from the chemist for all my exams and it looks fine and is the exact same shade as my tights.

Put the lotion on some cotton wool balls/ pads and wipe over the shoes- don't dab as it gets quite thick. I would do it a day or two before.

Some teachers like the uniform look that it gives the dancers. It matches your shoes to your tights, and it also makes all the dancers match (since pointe shoes come in all different colors). Calamine lotion will make them pink, or makeup will make them tan to match whatever color tights you're wearing.
