Hello! I've posted about this in Irish Dance - Feisanna, but wanted to make sure the Adults on here knew that we would be offering adult age groups at our feis. For more, see the listing in the Feiseanna section of the forum or go to jigbythejames.net!

I want to go! It will be my first feis, and I have family nearby, so it works out perfect! I didn't realize NAIDF had an adult category. I looked on their website for rules about it, but I can't find any. Who should I contact if I have questions?

The rules for adults are the same for the rest of the competitors. So, we adults compete slows at the PW and higher levels. A little different from An Comisium. :)

Basically the adult category can vary from 18 and up, 19 and up, 21 and up, etc. depending on the number and ages of registrants. There are not a whole lot of adults competing. Yet. I hope the number increases. The nice thing about NAIDF is that advancement is not conditional upon placement at a feis, so you don't have to worry about not having enough competitors to move up. Advancement is based solely on scores (80 or higher in the required dances for your level).

If you have more questions, you can email the Sharon Stidham, the NAIDF chair at achillacademy@yahoo.com.

Hope that all helps and that we'll see you in March!

Just found out that Rutherford Shoes will have a rep vending at our feis. Feis Fancies, a Celtic Curls distributor, will be there, too!

What age categories will you have at the feis?
Also will they be carrying most size shoes?

You should post on voy.com/226089/ too! It's the big Open Platform forum.

The feis is listed on that Open Platform forum. :)

We will have all ages from little to adult. At the NAIDF feiseanna I've competed in, there haven't been too many adults yet. Usually just 3 or 4 of us. Sometimes the category has been 19 and up, sometimes 22 and up, sometimes 18 and up. Just depends on how many register for your level.

As for shoes, I'll ask my vendor contact what ranges they'll carry and I'll post back here!

Sorry to bother, but I'm interest in this feis, but I was wondering: What's the difference between an open feis and a regular feis?

Thanks!

Open means it is open platform - no restrictions on what dancers may compete! Several organizations only allow member schools to compete at their feiseanna, but NAIDF feiseanna are all open platform, so they are open to all competitors regardless of their affiliation (or of no affiliation).

Got info from R Shoes on what they'll be vending at the feis -

They will have the new Grace pumps and the patent pumps. Hard shoes sizes range from small (kid's) size 8 to adult 9.5. Soft shoes ranges from kid's size 10 to adult 10 (with smallest and largest sizes being the full leather sole or a few black suede sole shoes). Looks like they'll also have poodle socks and maybe some jazz sneakers.

If you are with a CLRG school, check with your TCRG before registering for this, or any, non-CLRG feis.

Exactly - while our feis is open to anyone, not all federations permit their students to compete outside of their federation. We accept any competitors, but check with your TCRG before registering. If he/she it's fine with them, then come on!

Thanks for the answers - I am in a CLRG school, and told my TCRG about this. She said she'd talk to someone and get back to me and my mom in a few days.

Another question... say I place at this feis, if I go to it. Would it count toward me moving up to the next level?

You need to ask your TCRG about it counting towards your moving up. It might if there are enough competitors in your age group. Our federation doesn't work the same way - placement doesn't count towards moving up; it's your SCORE that determines whether you move up a level. Makes it nice that you can still move up if you score well even if there aren't 5 people in your age group at a competition!

Are those the only softshoes they will have? I wanted to go to see if they had hulluchans or cavans to try on, I'm not competing though.
