A man jumped off an overpass onto the SUV I was riding in. I was in the passenger seat and saw him climb over the rail and then bam. The roof just collapsed in and my friend manages to safely pull over. He fell right in between us. The roof was almost touching the center console. This man took his life. He could have taken ours. I'm in so much shock. My friend was hysterical and crying. I had to stay calm for both of us and I think I'm about to break down. It was frightening. 21 Replies to A Man Committed Suicide on the Car I Was Riding In |

I am so sorry for you and your friend. What a horrible thing to have happen to you. How lucky that your friend was able to pull over safely so that more lives were not lost. I am sure the jumper was in a world of pain that led to his suicide, but it's just so wrong for him to endanger your lives this way, not to mention the trauma he's caused you and your friend. Hugs to you. |

That's absolutely terrifying - I think you are more than entitled to cry or do whatever you need to do to try and feel better! Don't feel like you have to bottle it up or anything - a good tearfest can sometimes do you the world of good. I hope you and your friend will be ok. |

First off, I am so sorry this happened to you and your friend. I am glad to hear that you are both ok. Allow yourself to let it out. Cry, talk to someone, process. What you've been through is a very upsetting thing and it's absolutely ok to break down and let yourself cope. *Big Hugs* |

Wow, that's like 10 kinds of awful. Anyone would be completely freaked in that situation. I'm so sorry for you both, but I'm very glad you're both ok. As horrible as this scenario is, it could have been much worse. Yikes. Hang in there. |

I am so sorry to hear this happened to you.
Please, please, know that people all over the world are thinking about you right now, and we are sending all the hugs that we can over the internet to you.
Find some place that you can be alone, and let out whatever you need to let out. It isn't fair that you had to experience this, but please, do what you need to do to let out the emotions that you feel from this experience. It can be anger, grief, frustration, anxiety, whatever you feel you need to let out, please, let out. It's ok to feel whatever you want, there are people who support you and care about you, even if we have never met you.
Please, know that there are people all around the world who are thinking about you right now, and we are all sending you positive thoughts and many, many, many hugs. |

That is just so terrible and I can only imagine how terrified you were and still are.
It's hard to be sympathetic to this man and his problems as well as mental condition when he could have killed you too. *hugs* to you and your friend. |

That sucks so BADLY. I am so glad you guys were not hurt. Big time, I'm suggesting some kind of counseling down the line if you start having any kind of 'issues'. Don't talk yourself out of it or tell yourself 'its not that big of a deal'. Go get the help! |

What an awful traumatic experience, one of the worst things to witness! I admire your strength to be calm for your friend.
I'm sure the man was too captured in his own pain to think of the possibility of hurting or traumatising you two. It's just lucky neither of you got injured.
Definitely seek support for coping with this. |

Holy crap, that is awful. Take all the time to be as freaked out as you need. No worries, it's completely justified. Best wishes ♥ |

What you are experiencing is what we call Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD). It is very real and happens quite often to folks who experience some unpleasent event in their lives that is traumatic and usually very sudden (no warning it is about to happen). You and your friend should see a counseling professional to help you through this. A very rare few number of people can cope by themselves when these type of events occur to them, even professional law enforcement and emergency services workers need PTSD de-briefings after extra-ordinary calls. |

^Actually she does not state anything that indicates PTSD, other than the presence of a significant stressor/trauma. Sorry for the hijack; as a mental health professional it's a huge pet peeve of mine for people to throw out diagnoses like it's no big deal.
Anyway, many hugs to you. A car accident in and of itself can be frightening, let alone under the circumstances you experienced. I'm glad that neither you nor your friend were physically injured. Take some "you" time to process all of this, you've been through quite an ordeal. |
