Hi, I'm new to ballet and new to the site. I just started adult beginner's ballet and love it so far. I have been looking for sites with the basics for ballet and love this site so far. I just ordered my gear and can't wait to get my ballet slippers. If anyone has any tips to help with balance that would be awesome. That has been my main issue so far is staying balanced. I can't wait to read more of the posts here.

Balance tip #1: No mojitos before class. And you're welcome :)

Be sure to look around the whole site - it's HUGE. The ballet forum is very active, and it's easy to get sucked into it. But a lot of the other forums (fora?) are interesting too, so check them out. Welcome!

Welcome. I hope you enjoy your time here on DDN.

Keep On Dancing*

ps The best advice I can offer on balance is to think "belly button to backbone" Also, "pull up, pull in, breathe, and SMILE" Core strength is the key.

Hi and welcome to the site.

Balance can be a bit tricky when you start ballet, making sure your weight stays towards the ball of the foot as you lift and pull up is always something that helps my dancers (whilst still keeping the heels down). The minute you let all of your weight fall towards your heels you will fall backwards.
