I personally wouldn't. Anything other than a very simple design will blur, and even then, you move your fingers so much that they'll likely have a blow out or blur. None of my tattoo artists will do hand or finger tattoos on you unless you're already heavily tattooed. |

I personally know one person with a ring tattoo. While she didn't get divorced she did regret that tattoo during Pregnancy. For some reason, her fingers swelled like crazy during her pregnancy and it totally distorted the ring. |

My mum has finger tattoos (take a look at my board) which are fine, however my dad got my mums name tattooed where his ring would be, and it's now quite blurry. |

My manager at one of my jobs has a wedding tattoo around his finger...it looks god awful and I wouldn't advise anyone to ever get tattooed anywhere on their hands. The chance of it aging well is slim to none. You're also going to have a difficult time finding an artist willing to do a tattoo on your finger.
As far as branding, you never know how well you're going to keloid and scar. wiki.bmezine.com . . . is a good place to start to read up on branding. |

My friend has her hubby's name tattooed on her finger and she's 40 and it looks fabulous. Interesting to read the other replies because that would now make me think she's the exception to the rule. |

But they don't age well. And they're still there after you get divorced. I vote no. And branding your finger must hurt like a SOB. |

I know several people with wedding tattoos, and they've held up for decades (which is interesting, as they were done so long ago).
Now I'm curious what the change would be, or if it's just that certain people handle them better? |

Well thanks for implying that my marriage is going to fail lol. The ones I've seen have held up nicely. but probably like BDT says, depends on the person. Non color would probably be best, but that looks more Celtic to me anyway.

Hi DanceDynamic!
I don't think anyone was saying that your marriage IS going to fail, but no one goes in to marriage thinking it's going to fail, and yet people still divorce. A tattoo is permanent. for life. for ever Statistically, a tattoo is going to be more permanent than a marriage!
But of course we hope you have a long and happy marriage!!! |

You can't the kind of detail you want on a finger tattoo. It's too small. I have a heart tattooed on my right ring finger and my artist only even agreed to do it because I had 7 other tattoos at the time. It's a very simple outline with no detail or embellishment. I couldn't get my hand wet for close to a week. Consider how much you wash your hands every day and that's a huge inconvenience.
Do you have other tattoos? If you don't, an artist will probably refuse to do it. |

When I say don't age well, I'm talking 20+ years, not just a few. Your friends who have them can't be all that old and therefore their tattoos haven't all that much time to AGE.
And I wasn't implying that your marriage is going to fail, however, I work with a few people who have wedding/couple and even wedding band finger tattoos, and are in fact divorced. Divorce is common these days. Happens to the best of us, whether you see it coming or not. And well, if it came to that, wouldn't that be annoying as hell? Not something I'd want, that's for sure. |
