I have been working out for the past couple weeks and recently increased to working out for an hour a day. I did an hour of cardio today, however at the 20 minute mark I was noticing my arm was sore. It has been sore for a couple of days but I chalked it up to normal soreness as it was not really bothering me.
I touched my arm after it started bothering me and it is rather sore to touch. I feel a dull ache with just light pressure.
It is on the outside of my arm starting at my joint and it goes down about 4 or 5 inches. Then the rest of my arm is fine.
Did I bruise it? Over work it? What should I do to help the pain go away?
It is in no way bad enough to see a doctor. I just spent 2 hours cleaning the house and the worst it got was a weak dull ache 3 Replies to Did I bruise my shoulder joint or over work it? What do I do for it? |

Rest it, ice it, and take some ibuprofen. A weak dull ache doesn't seem like anything to be concerned about, especially since you've been working out. |

A dull aching feeling is not the same as normal muscle soreness. If you are going to work out, dance, play sports, or do anything physical like that, you should be in tune with your body and know what sensations are normal and what sensations need attention, and respond accordingly. If it hurts, don't do it. Stop doing things that aggravate your arm for a while and let it rest. This has been going on for a few days, so give the arm a week or so to rest and see if that helps. If not, or if this pain comes back as soon as you start using it again, it's time to get someone to look at it. |

Have you ever worked out super hard before the last couple of weeks? If you aren't a regular exerciser you may not know what "working out" pain feels like VS injury pain.
If you are out of shape, I think you are more prone to overworked muscles. ( Sometimes you don't know how hard to push yourself, you aren't used to the overwork etc)
It sounds like you just have overworked muscles based on the fact that it is a dull ache with light pressure. Sometimes after a HUGE workout session, it hurts to even lay on my bed because the pressure of the bed on my body.
As Sara said, ice, rest and ibuprofen. |
