We are creating a ballet to be approx 7 mins for the recital. The idea is "Snow White". We want to use the ballet students to be snow white, the dwarfs and woodland creatures (the "good" characters) and the hip hop to represent the evil queen and her minions (the "evil" characters). As we are time conscious we won't be doing the whole story of Snow White but maybe just a scene or a general representation.

Does anyone have any story ideas or even better - music?? I'm stuck! We have a fantastic music man who will mix together what ever we find but we've got to find things for both the ballet sections as well as hip hop and something for them both to dance to at the end for the "finale".

Have you looked at the soundtrack for he two snow white movies-if it's out yet. But maybe look at the most recent Step Up soundtrack, I know one of those songs has both hip hop and lyrical music in the same song. Wish I could recall the name, but it's from the 3-D step up soundtrack.

Youtube search hiphop violin or hip hop classical or the like, there's tons of interesting pieces out there.

I think what the OP is looking for is music for the ballet section and music for the hip hop section that her "music man" can cut together. Like the Waltz from Sleeping Beauty followed by "Candyshop" by 50 Cent. In other words, multiple songs.

try the band Bond. I am sure you can mix a few of their songs....Victory Remix would be good in my opinion for the Hip Hop section. It's classical, Im pretty sure all strings...so they would work for ballet as well.
