Oh hot darn am I nervous right now!
I have my first ever job interview on Thursday and I'm literally a shaking mess!
To make a long story short, I got my first job when I was 15 working reception at a Chiropractic clinic. I later upgraded to Chiropractic Assistant while I was completing my thee year Massage Therapy program. Once I completed that, they asked me to join as as associate and start my practice there. Ive been there for ten years in total.
During this time I've also had three dance teaching jobs - all came about with people randomly calling me and asking if I would work for them.
My job interview is at a Midwifery clinic. I totally cold called them and sent in a resume and cover letter (my first ever!!) despite the fact that they were not looking for a Massage Therapist - nor do they currently offer Massage Therapy.
So it was a total crap shoot - but they called and I go in to meet the entire practice Thursday! I wouldn't be a self employed contract worker - but Im still nervous as hell.
Mostly because I really want this! This is my dream job within my field. I'm really confident in my training and abilities - but I feel like such a n00b for making it this long without having experienced an interview - or even the handing out of a resume!
Anyone want to commiserate? Or just wish me luck? Advice?
Thanks for listening while I vent!

I admire your initiative! You are obviously ambitious and qualified, so I bet the interview will be a piece of cake! I have a huge job interview on Friday for my dream job, unfortunately it is a group interview and there are a lot of candidates, so I totally feel you in regards to nerves. I don't have any really technical advice because, even though you haven't been to a thousand interviews, you sound passionate so I am sure you will do great. Instead, I will just tell you what my mom always does when I go to an interview: SMILE! |

^ Good luck with your interview! Your Mom has good advice!
Mine will be in front of a group as well (apparently they will just be wrapping up a meeting before hand so everyone will be there) - but I am the only candidate. Well, I am assuming I am the only candidate due to the circumstances! |
