Well, it usually ranges between about 11-12 I believe, but I'm 14 and my class ranges between 13-16! It really depends, but I'd say that usually it is around 11-12.
Good luck and have fun!! :)

I think It completely depends on the set up of the school and dancers.... I've taught 11 year old this syllabus and 17 year olds..

An 11 year old who has only done ballet one a week for three years is not going to be ready for inter foundation...
At one school I worked in there were 2 groups; split by age, one group of 16-18s that had done all the graded work attended once a week and wanted to continue training, one group that were 11-13 that had completed grade 5 and attended 3 classes per week.

I would worry about age, there is no upper age limit for ANY of the RAD exams (if that's where you are headed!)

Enjoy!!

Your situation is pretty common. Just go ahead and dance, and within a few years you'll be dancing with people your age.

I took my first RAD exam (Intermediate) at age 30.

Don't worry about your age - if you are dancing and enjoying yourself, then focus on that. Ballet is great because you only "compete" against yourself - it doesn't matter if you are twice the age as everyone else in class - you are all learning together and improving individually.

Good luck on your exam!

A lot of them are quite young.. 11-13 is the usual.
However, there are always late starters (like me) so there are also people who are like 14-20. And probably older as well, since there is no limit.

Happy Birthday for a few days ago. (:

IF is a vocational grade and should be on a selection bases only. It is quite technical and would be difficult to just "jump in" at that level. I would reccomend a grade 5 (or there abouts)for a year and see how that goes before jumping into Inter/IF However I would not worry about your age. At my dance school the IF class are about 10-15 (I was 14 when I took my exam, a year and a half ago). However I know that they teach the IF work in the Intermediate adult class, and places like the RAD have adult only IF classes. Good luck and have fun! (:

I'm 32, and aside from another girl who's in her mid 20's, I think all the inter foundation students in my school are from about 12-16.
