LOL have any of you guys named your cars? Just wondering. My family has a silver mini van that I have nicknamed "The Beluga" (like the whale),and I have a friend who used to have "The Blue Wrinkle" , cause the car was blue and had so many dents in it. So...any creative names out there?

My first car was "The Tank" (an '86 Chevy Caprice), and my brother's '87 Caprice was "The Land Yacht." They were BIG!

My Sable is Agnes, just because she's older and it seemed appropriate! She had been disgruntled for awhile, but once I named her she seemed to be OK. But, she's on her last legs now :(

I do have a name for my car, although this was the first car of mine to get a name. I call it "the button" because the front end is so small, I called it a "button nosed front" when I saw it.

My first car was a taupe-colored 1986 Toyota Camry. The Deftones album White Pony had just come out, and my boyfriend at the time and I decided it would be terribly clever to call my car the White Pony and then laugh hysterically every time someone pointed out that my car wasn't white. Yeah. I was a weird teenager.

Only the first car I ever owned myself was named...and that name isn't printable on DDN. I've now owned 17 autos in 47 years. Sixteen of those have had no name aside from the brand or model name, e.g. "the Camry" or "the Highlander."

The first time my father bought a second car was when I was in college (early 1960's) and he bought for next to nothing a 13 year old Chevy. This car was so worn out and the engine was so loose, that it was actually rather easy to start (with a new battery which may have cost more than dad paid for the car) in the extreme cold weather in our home town in Winter. Temperatures of -25F and below were not all that uncommon, and that was the main reason he bought it. It was also a car I could use or swap out with the family when I was home on college breaks and summers. We called it "Hesperus" after the poem "The Wreck of the Hesperus" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. It was a wreck.

It had a spiffy two-tone paint job...faded dark blue, oxidized actually, with a faded light blue left front door we bought at a junk yard. We could not close the original door so it would stay shut and dad wasn't going to paint this car so the door matched. We would never put more than a dollar's worth of gas into it (three gallons at 1960's prices) lest it die with a full tank of gas. About a year after I left home, my dad got rid of it when some Milwaukee dealer had an ad for a guaranteed trade of $200 for any car you could drive, tow, or push to the dealership. He was still able to drive it the 70 miles to Milwaukee and $200 was about ten times more than he paid for it.

But mostly I just call it "my car." I don't have much emotional attachment to it and never refer to it by name.

My brother's first car was a Prius named "Pegasus Majestic," or "Peggy" for short. It got totaled so he got a Mazda named "Maximus Majestic" or Max for short, whose goal is to avenge his sister.

Dad once referred to Mom's silver car as "the gold one," so it has been dubbed "Not-Gold." Dad's car color was "Gunmetal" which we found hilarious and that is the name of his vehicle.

My first far was a purple minivan, which was dubbed the "Barney Boat."

I don't name cars. My old car, which my dad drives now, is now called "The Putt-Putt." But not when I drove it.

To expand on the above...

When I first got my car I felt she needed a name, and on our first trip together I decided it would be Little Suze. However as I got to know her, particularly when she turned metallic pink, I began to call her Susan as I realised she was a little more refined.

I didn't name Tim's previous cars but when he got a Focus I called him Trevor. The next time he had to swap his car he got the Fiesta but the 5-door version, and he was called Jason. So, a 3-door Fiesta is Susan and a 5-door is Jason. So it blags me when I see a pink Jason. All my Fiestas have been Susan. I feel I should add at this point that Tim and I get company cars through his work, I don't routinely buy new cars every few months.

He's got a Range at the moment for the bad weather which hasn't materialised, and he hasn't got a name, he's just The Beast.

Years and years ago (there were these people called the Maccabees) - sorry. Years ago my mom had an old Volkswagon which we called Toots. Our next-door-but-one neighbour fixed cars and had Bluebell and Buttercup on his drive. Tim's first car was ancient too, "The Battler". E reg, can you imagine! I can't even remember anything before an L reg!

My first car was a Blue Citroen AX named Bert. He was pretty old and grumpy (he only started when he felt like it!)

My second car was a green VW polo called either Mike - short for the teenage turtle Michaelangelo or the Moo Mobile (mainly by other people!)

My current car is a red Toyota Aygo named Lola the Aygo. I had a little vote on here and people came up with that name, plus she's little, red and feisty. Oh and her reg is LTA (lola the aygo)

Although Lola is currently in the garage so I have a Ford Fiesta hire car..I tend to call him Hugo the hire. :?

How nice are Fiestas?!?! Although as above...if Hugo has 3 doors he's actually Susan, if he has 5 he's actually Jason. :P

Mine is named Gok, because he's a little gay Korean man (...I once took a very long long roadtrip and we gave my car a complicated backstory...) but I also refer to it just as "the go-kart" because it's got about the same size engine as one, haha.

It's so nice! Dave has decided he now wants one as his next car (he currently has Claude the Clio)

It is a five door...but he's grey and a sports one so I think he's still Hugo :? He goes home on Monday though and I get Lola back..I've missed her :(

LOL I cracked up when I read this, cause I volunteer at a nursing home, and one of the residents named her walker Hugo, cause it says HUGO on the front in giant letters. She's so cute :)

My first car was called Lola, my friend named her. I had such an emotional attachment to that car and I was genuinely sad to trade her in. She ran just fine until the day she was sold but I had to be practical and look at something newer.

My boyfriend has called my new car Kevin after the bird from 'Up'. I'm not entirely sure why this struck him as a good idea but I haven't been able to think of it as anything other than Kevin.

I've only ever had one car, a 2003 Nissan X-Terra. Her name is Nola, short for Granola (as in crunchy granola hippie). This is why.

Indeed! :D My Baja's name is Hinkypunk, Hinky for short (also called will-o'-the-wisps, the little fairy creatures that appear to be made of smoke and lure people to their doom), and my dad's Impreza Outback Sport's name is Bindi. :)

Than there was my Pontiac G6 who didn't really have a name, occasionally got called Sunny (it was orange).

Now I have a yellow Chevy Cobalt who is Chiquita! or Bee... (My friend has an almost black one that we call Bumble, yes my friend and I have matching cars, cause we be cool like dat).

I named my husbands Jeep Bruce because I decided that it was a male car... but he didn't like that so we just call it Jeepy...

I named my laptop too... Toby Shiba... I name everything.

I don't really name my cars. But I did name my last one.
The woman who sold me my dark red 1998 Lexus called it Ruby. And asked that I took good care of her lol. I later discovered that Ruby is actually the name of the color of the car.
I didn't like the name for the car-besides, it was more of a garnet.
I couldn't call the car Garnet...ya know? So I said hmm... female name with G and R in it, and I thought of my first friend, a very elderly lady named Gertrude.

So my car was named Gertrude. Nobody ever knew though. I never called the car that in the four years that I owned it. Only thought it once in a while.

However, my husbands former car was a 2006 Scion XB and we called it a few names. I liked calling it the X-box. We also called it the flying toaster. Because it was toaster shaped hahaha.

The end.

Oh yes! In our 16 year old glory, me and my best friend named our cars Betty, because my car is blue, and Wilma, because her car was white. Sadly, Wilma got totalled but I still have my Betty! I also named my first skidoo Ramone and the skidoo I have now is named Timone...in an homage to Ramone and also because it's this gross faded tomato colour. And we call my dad's giant work truck The Beast because that's exactly what it is.

Our old car was Jalopy, because he had major engine problems and would shake while idling. Our newer car is Marilyn, because she's a 98 and has a very old vibe.
