Hello All,

Straight to the question.. ANY IDEAS ON HIP HOP DANCE GAMES TO PLAY WITH A LARGE GROUP OF 10 YEAR OLDS? Now the explanation...

I am doing a dance party for one of my students this week. I was first told by my SO that it'd be for like an hour. No biggie I was going to do a normal "class". She just told me it will probably have to do a lot of "dance games" because there will be 25-30 kids!??? I am not sure if there will be boys there or not and I am expected to do an hour and a half now. ( I don't thnk I am getting paid enough for that many kids for that long... But that's another post topic entirely lol)

Sorry got side tracked. My problem is that I teach a lot of babies 2.5-5 yrs old and those "dance games" will not be okay for 10 yr olds... I actually barely play any "games" even in my baby classes... I am going to spend at least half an hour on a routine. These are recreational dancers so the choreography won't be hard. ....

Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!

Will that hour and a half include time for cake etc or is that just dance time?
I generally start with a stretch and introduction. I also do face paint- just simple peace signs or flowers.
I warm them up with cha cha slide then do a simple choreography to a party type song- party in the USA. The choreography is repetitive and incorporates about 6 steps throughout the whole song- body waves, step touches, cris cross turns and flash jumps.
Then we move to a freestyle circle where I choose 2-3 kids at a time to dance in the circle.
I play a shadow game- each person gets a partner and takes turns shadowing each other as they dance.
We play red light green light with dance moves.
Limbo
Musical chairs with hula hoops or another prop.
We play pass the hula hoop trying to pass a hoop around a circle while everyone is holding hands.
Give each kid a chance to show off their fav dance move and let everyone give it a try.
And as always freeze dance!

Wow those are great I suggestions! I am under the impression they want to dance that entire time... But with that many kids im sure those suggestions alone will fill the time!
